Going down to Columbia tomorrow for a concert, Parking Tips?

Aug 9, 2018, 8:41 AM

As much as I do not want to go to Cootlumbia, I am seeing a show there tomorrow night. I notice a lot of parking decks in the downtown area (near the state house), does anyone know if they would be easy to get into on a Friday afternoon around 4? And then have my car there until around midnight? I don't mind paying to park.

Just wanted to see if any Columbia area Tiger fans had any advice.

The Senate on the corner of Senate / Assembly, I can also park further away and just Uber there and back if that is a better option.

Coming from the Greenville direction down 26

As you're coming in from 26 and getting close to Columbia

Aug 9, 2018, 10:35 AM

You should turn around and drive as fast as you can away from Columbia and back towards Greenville.

Lock your doors and you might need some type of personal protection.

Uber

No matter how far away you live it’s gonna be cheaper than a new car

First, don't carry all your cash and cards in one place
Next, act crazy, this will allow you to blend in and not seem out of place and make you a target.
Also, only wear boots or sneakers, in case you have to defend yourself (which is very likely,)you need to be prepared and boots can help when kicking a coot and if more attack than you can handle (they like to attack in packs) sneakers will help you in your retreat.
Finally, ALWAYS be aware of your surroundings. Coots can attack at any moment from various areas. Be Alert.

My God have mercy on you, I wish you Godspeed!

Should have clarified, concert is at The Senate on the corner of Senate / Assembly, coming from the Clemson area.

Use the SCDOT garage, Lincoln St entrance....

Aug 9, 2018, 9:03 AM

....right across the street, easy in & out and usually not full if you get there early enough, which it sounds like you are.

I have parked there several times for concerts. Usually around $10-20 depending on the event. There should be attendants at the gate at 4 PM.

Nevermind, sorry. Just saw your other post....

Aug 9, 2018, 9:05 AM

..... thought the concert was at Colonial Life Arena.

FWIW it is like 2 blocks from colonial life, would the garage still be open to public parking if there is no event going on at the arena?

I think they just open it for CLA events*****

If you get there at 4, you can probably park in the lot

Aug 9, 2018, 9:11 AM

right beside The Senate (formerly known as Music Farm, I assume...). If not park on the street close by. Car will be safe from tickets until 8am at least...

Thank you all for the advice, I now have a parking plan. Part of the reason I have been on tigernet so long, great to talk tiger sports and get advice.

By the way if I do not post anything over the next few weeks, something probably happened to me in Columbia...

These guys seem to have a spot.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Should be plenty of street parking available on Assembly

Aug 9, 2018, 10:13 AM

St. between 4 and 5p, provided you can parallel park. Feed a meter til 6pm then you're good. Safer than the city's garages.

While you're visiting check out The Whig - excellent basement bar corner of Main & Gervais a few blocks from your venue. Co-owner is big Clemson fan. Burgers are tops in town.

Re: Should be plenty of street parking available on Assembly

Aug 9, 2018, 10:17 AM

The area you are going to for the concert should have plenty of off street parking between four and six p.m. Take some change for the city meters before six p.m., but otherwise you should be fine.

Go Tigers!

There's a parking garage attached to the hilton/USC alumni center. Also there's a couple pay to park lots in the Vista behind Grill Marks/Jimmy Johns and Devino's both on Gadson Street. The two lots on Gadson could be the cheapest but hold probably 50/60 cars between the two. I also believe meter spots on Assembly are free after 6pm and on the weekends.
