I don't know if I would put him in the top 10. But he was a good quarterback nonetheless.
Cullen Harper had really good sophomore and junior years.
Mike Eppley ran the option to perfection.
I would put one of those in the Top 10 ahead of DeChane Cameron.

He has to be at least top 3. If you are going by simply stats then you don't get it. He played in a tougher ACC with fewer games, more huddles and run oriented offenses.

People put far too much stock into beating mediocre #### teams for Whitehurst and seem to undersell Tajh Boyd's records (that still stand even after DW4). I know different offenses and different weapons, but Charlie had a #### poor season in 2004 only completing 50% of passes and throwing just 7 TDs to 17 INTs, Tajh on the other hand was an all-acc selection every season he started and POY his Jr. season.

2010 was also his freshmen year, 2004 was Whitehurst's Jr. year. There's no excuse for a Jr. who at least started a year prior to only throw 7 TDs and 17 INTs in 11 games. In contrast Tajh as a Jr. was ACC POY and a all-american.

Airese Curry for 3, and JJ McKelvey was still around in 2002 with those other guys. No it wasn't Sammy and Nuk, but those guys weren't exactly chopped liver. I think the one year we had a down WR corp was 2004 and Whitehurst had a horrible season that year.

be in the top two until there are three qb's in the Ring. Watson will be there, so we can put him in the top two. Whitehurst never played on a team like Watson and Fuller had, and was an amazing player. So yeah, those have to be the top three, I think. Dantzler was the most electric player we ever had at that spot, and there is no telling how many games we won simply because we had him and the other team didnt, so I might put him at four. But I agree that the rest are matters of opinion, all were very, very good.
Heck, Williams had a knack for doing the right thing over and over and over again, as good as Watson was at that, I think. Didn't have Watson's skills, of course, but the guy could lead an offense and find a way to score.

He had 49 TDs and 46 INTs for his career. 7.1 YPA.
Boyd had 107 TDs and 39 INTs with 8.5 YPA. I know it was a different era and all, but i still can't imagine putting Whitehurst ahead of Boyd.
Basically he beat a bunch of bad to mediocre Coot teams whereas Tajh lost to a few extremely good Coot teams. That;s the only argument i can see for Whitehurst and not one that i put a great deal of stock in. IMO Tajh could've just easily gone 4-0 against those Coot teams and Charlie could've gone 0-3 against the 11-2 Coot teams.

Steve Fuller had 22 TDs and 17 INT in his entire career

I watched him play as a kid. I will give him credit for being the first QB to usher Clemson into semi-national prominence. His '77 and '78 years kickstarted our program.

4 of those guys you have above Fuller never made an NFL

team. Fuller ran the triple-option - his ability to throw it on the run made teams respect it. He could run it if he had to. Those 2 things made the pitch work infinitely better...
You gotta move him higher.

Not sure why you feel you need to insult the other poster for having an OPINION different than yours.

I didn't insult him, I asked him how old he was because I

wanted to get his frame of reference...FYI, we are probably from the same generation if he saw Fuller play as a child...Now run along and be condescending and dickish to someone else

Good lord you are simply not very intelligent if you think I am anything like that race baiting loser.
Never have I once threatened to fight another poster on a message board.

I see the same similarities in you two that you see in NAT

and I...I certainly have NEVER RA'd anybody nor have I invented hybrid positions(technically, neither has NAT, but that's another thread entirely), so the comparisons are valid

Poor guy was always scrambling for his life because...

so flawlessly, threw a great ball while rolling out, and led us to a NC and then a 9-1-1 mark in 1982. Plus, Woody was the first college player ever to run for a 1,000 and pass for 2,000. Whitehurst was more of a traditional drop back passer and more of an NFL prospect for sure. I think I'd pick those two by a hair as college QBs over Charlie though.

If Nealon Greene had been about 3 inches taller, he would have completed more passes.

1. Watson 2. Fuller 3. Jordan 4. Woody 5. Whitehurst 6. Tajh 7. Williams 8. Streeter 9. Greene 10. Cameron
Tajh gets bumped down for two reasons. #1 is 0-4 (yes, those USuCk teams were good...so were those Clemson teams). #2 is playing with four NFL WRs vs. one or zero for most of these guys.
