ACC not pulling their weight in the football 'alliance'

Jan 26, 2022, 2:35 PM

ACC schools have opportunity to schedule PAC-12 or other non-conference games to home-and-home schedule. But have so far refused preferring to keep their gimme games against small schools or other state schools.

a national recruiting footprint. Consequently, they're not going to be too keen on playing games outside of their geographic markets and, frankly, that's understandable.

The majority of them probably aren't too interested in playing a home and away series with other Power 5 programs outside of the Eastern seaboard, if any. They would rather schedule a bunch of more local patsies to pad their win/loss record.

Dave, schedules are made years in advance and whatever the Alliance is, means nothing now.

Have new home-and-homes been scheduled between Big10 and PAC12 since the alliance was formed?

Clemson has their big OOC matchups set through 2035 with games against Georgia, LSU and Oklahoma. On top of that the ACC has all those built in OOC matchups with Notre Dame thanks to Swoffie. Not a lot of room for these Alliance games. Don't see them giving up the money for guaranteed home games either to go on the road and play someone like Cal,Washington St, Rutgers or Northwestern. Yawn.

Not disputing your statement, but asking for more information please. What schools have had the opportunity? Why did the school refuse? Who was the school wanting to be added to the schedule? Just want a little proof is all. Thanks.
