University Ridge Fire 2004 and Snow in DV (image attached)

My power is out, so I'll share a picture and memory from my junior year...

The University Ridge apartments burned to the ground in February 2004, that night we stood on Bowman Field with a few hundred other students and watched. The fire was so hot we stayed warm while we watched from across the street. While we watched, ashes fell and then snow started to mix with the ashes falling. (We ended up at TTT eventually with most of the crowd.) It snowed all night.

We had an early lab the next morning, it wasn't cancelled until
we got to class, we ended up driving around campus and went into the stadium.

I took the attached photo from the old west end zone bleachers.

Remember sitting in the old west end seats many times but never noticed how both goalposts, Howard’s Rock, center of scoreboard, both smokestacks all line up with Tillman in the center. Remarkable! Thanks

I was working at Publix in Anderson at the time. Of course I had to work with potential inclement weather coming in. I remember driving home from work that night and getting into Clemson. I was living in Daniel Square my sophomore year. I remember seeing Clemson House and just beyond it I could see orange and smoke and lights and fire trucks... I thought Daniel Square and my apartment were on fire. I came to find out it was University Ridge and I was somewhat relieved. I felt sorry for you guys though. I will never forget that.
