Unfortunately, DJ is a bust

Sep 25, 2021, 10:40 PM

NIL has changed things. As a 20 yr old, the whole "big Cinco", $1000 suits with matching hats, Dr. Pepper commercials thing has all supplanted the very thing that made him matter.

Ross, Ngata, and others merely need the ball in their hands. For this and other reasons, DJ can't deliver.

#### him!, Sadly, He is a bust.

Disappointed in a lot of people piling on DJ

Sep 25, 2021, 10:42 PM

The entire offense is a disaster. The coaches didn’t have him ready. This is on them.

I think DJ has a lot of talent. We aren’t making anything easy for him

My friend, the coaches can call the plays but they can't execute them. He stood in the pocket like a deer in headlights and took sack after sack. DJ is a bust.

We couldn’t execute in practice. DJ hasn’t seen live action since last year. The coaches didn’t have him ready. They didn’t have our entire offense ready. OL is horrible with the most talent we’ve had in 20 years. We have no TE play.. all busts ??

We have a 110+ ranked offense right now. We’re going to blame our first time starting QB. If we had someone else they’d be in I’m pretty sure we’re doomed this season. ????

And I was so happy when he committed but he was definitely overrated coming out of high school.

Stood in the pocket and took sack after sack? You mean on third and long after Tony Elliots moronic predictable play calling did nothing on the first two downs. Inside run, bubble screen, oh look third and long. Defense knows we have to pass and bring 5-6 men! DJ has pressure in his face before the routes even have a CHANCE to develop. This is on Tony Elliot for having no idea how to call plays. He’s consistently putting DJ in awful positions.

DJ may not be the guy, but I am absolutely not convinced of that yet. I’ve seen some flashes of real talent and will not judge him based off the crap situations he’s been put in

At least last year DJ had Etienne to throw to. With all this talent we have or had at this position could they not develop someone to replace Etienne in that role? Of course someone like Etienne is not replaceable, but that would at least give us another option when the deep routes aren't there.

Not so sure about the dju talent. Nothing has shown this true this year. I’ve seen some pics of him in some pretty suits, but that doesn’t win games. We need a gamer, winner; not a pretty boy.

Second drive.

The 1st drive was one 1st down followed by a few plays and a punt.

Elliot DID NOT take us to 2 national champ. games, that was on defense and offensive talent alone. You can't be that naïve to think we went to 2 Nat. Champ. games thanks strictly to TE? He hasn't evolved his offense whatsoever over past few years. The only reason we have been as good as we were on offense, is because of the talent that we had at the skill positions. Yes, DJ is to blame for a portion of the offensive struggles, but you can't let the OL, Elliot and Dabo get away freely with no blame either. The OL has regressed in past few years and I'm unsure if it's because of the coaches and/or players we're (not) recruiting. You also can't be that naïve to think it's literally just 1 person's fault as to our struggles on offense. Dabo has to take ownership and make tough decisions that lie ahead of him. Starting with OL, then TE and then QB position. At this point, I'd be tempted to put Taisun in, and see what spark he can provide on Offense. Again, this isn't just on 1 player, it's on a whole list of individuals. And if we don't get this solved by end of the season, then I don't see us finishing much over .500, at best.

Then why won’t our coaches try someone else at QB?

Sep 25, 2021, 10:49 PM

Even for a series or two?

I can’t imagine Phommachanh being this bad.

I agree that DJ sure doesn’t look like an elite QB this year, but I think the game planning and play calling is a significant factor in our failures this year too.

Reggie Merriweather says hello. Our coaches can be stubborn when it comes to changes. Loses games sometimes.
