I completed a breakdown of each team's ACC schedule assuming each goes undefeated in conference. The stats below already have losses factored into the standings for games between like opponents and games yet to occur. For example, I have FSU (1-4) at 1-5 even though they have yet to play SMU and I have UVA (2-0) at 2-2 even though they havent played us and SMU.

Clem Miami SMU
NCST 0 2 VT 1 2 FSU 1 5
FSU 1 5 Cal 0 3 UL 1 3
Stan 1 3 UL 1 3 Stan 1 3
WF 1 3 FSU 1 5 Duke 1 3
UVA 2 2 Duke 1 3 Pitt 1 2
UL 1 3 GT 2 3 BC 1 1
VT 1 2 WF 1 3 UVA 2 2
PITT 1 2 SYR 1 1 Cal 0 3
8 22 8 23 8 22

win % 0.266666667 0.258064516 0.266666667

Common Opp:
FSU, LSU

STAN UVA Pitt (CU, SMU)
WF VT (CU, UM)
CAL Duke (UM,SMU)

Unique Opp:

NCST (CU)
SYR, GT (UM)
BC (SMU)

We need to take care of business and pull against Cal , Duke, BC, SYR, and GT

Miami/Louisville should be interesting maybe SYR, maybe FSU put is together

for SMU they only have Pitt/UVA

It might not be that farfetched though. Us, Miami, and SYR should be favored in remaining games.

NCST vs Cal and NCST vs Duke are huge games for the tie breaker

It would give us a win and hand a loss to both UM and SMU in each of those games

Right now, Miami and Clemson are the two highest ranked teams in the ACC. I believe if both win out, they will be in the conference championship so what others do would not really matter. SMU will not jump either one, even if they win out.

it has nothing to do with rank, which is why I posted this

OK, I guess the article I read on this was wrong or I misunderstood it. Thanks for clarifying.

Highest ranked don’t matter. ACC does everything the hard way.

If three teams are tied at 8-0....

... then won't the first four tie breakers will still see all 3 teams tied?

5th tie breaker is the deciding factor.

*****
Win-percentage versus all common opponents.

For that to happen, the three undefeated teams have to be Clemson, Miami and SMU (since none of them play each other)

I started to go through each teams schedule and figure out how their games would affect Clemson.

But, here is the bottom line
1. When an Clemson opponent wins, good. When a Clemson opponent loses, bad.
2. When a Miami or SMU opponent wins, bad. When a Miami or SMU opponent loses, bad.

FSU plays all three schools, so that is a wash. Win or lose won't affect the relative standing.

So, anytime any of these teams win (except against Clemson) good. When they lose, bad.
NC State, Stanford, Wake, UVA, Louisville, VT, Pitt

Cal, Duke, GT, Cuse - They need to lose. They play Miami but not Clemson. Losses hurts Miami.

Duke, BC, Cal - They need to lose. They play SMU but not Clemson. Lossed hurt Miami.
