Agree or disagree: #2 in state is unacceptable

Jun 4, 2012, 3:25 PM

I'm willing to suspend judgment on this issue in Football for another year...

But I think it is abundantly clear to anyone (who's head is not in the sand) that SCar is the best baseball program in the state. To me, second place to SC, AS A PROGRAM is unacceptable. They may have a better year occasionally, I can live with that, but what's happening now in baseball is sheer dominance with no sign of the tide turning.

It's time for a change.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

In football it is unacceptable. In baseball and basketball

Jun 4, 2012, 3:27 PM

we need to be able to at least split on a consistent basis.

BUT in football-hell no!

Loosing 2 games by a total of 2 runs is not exactly dominance.

But losing 4 games out of 5 on the year is***

Not when 3 are on their field and one a "neutral" site.

Re: BS on 2 games by 2 runs not dominance

Jun 4, 2012, 3:37 PM [ in reply to Re: Agree or disagree: #2 in state is unacceptable ]

Maybe 2 close games is not. However an 8-17 record over the last 25 games and 0-6 in post season play against them qualifies as getting your #### kicked over a long enough stretch that I would say they have absolutely owned us for a while now. But go ahead and keep your head in the sand and think all is fine with the state of our baseball program.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Losing 18 of 25 and all 4 in the last three postseasons is***

If you TD this then you think we havent been dominated

Jun 4, 2012, 3:47 PM

since we finished our 06 CWS run? Justify yourself and stop using the TD feature you coward.

Well...Clemson has made it a habit of getting upended by their rival for the past few years...all the big games. That sucks

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

one problem

Jun 4, 2012, 3:33 PM

We could have finished #2 in the nation the last 2 years and still been #2 in the state. SCU had a good baseball team the last two years and rode a hot streak at the right time. Have to give props where props are due.

Jun 4, 2012, 3:36 PM

Yep it is but as long as we have people who defend poor baseball then we will continue to fall further and further behind USC.

Agree..but canning Leggett isn't the answer.

Jun 4, 2012, 3:51 PM

Some folks think, including me, that Leggett gives us the best chance to take us back to #1 in state and chance to be even better than that.

The massive risk of becoming worse due to a change in leadership is much larger than the chance that Jack won't turn it around.

I'll take Jack.

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

There's no such thing as a stupid question, just stupid people who ask questions.

Inpast years we d enough talent to win inspite of his

Jun 4, 2012, 3:58 PM

terrible in-game coaching. Now we dont. We lose so many close games because he cant make the right decisions in games. Why start Haselden after he threw 60 pitches just 48 hrs before. Meyer shouldve started and Haselden couldve gone today. He continued to let our guys swing at 2-0 and 3-1 pitches. Atleast 6 guys swung at 2-0 and 3-1 pitches out of the K zone yesterday. Why does a guy hitting less than .250 get to swing at 3-1? We needed base runners, but that escaped out "best chance to win", Coach Leggett. We have continued to fail miserably at moving runners up via bunt. We make too many outs on the bases. you realize we play 9 inning games with only 7 1/3 inning worth of outs because we give up so many outs for free. It boggles my mind that people think hes so great. The reality is that nobody knows baseball anymore and cant see that Coach Leggett has no clue whats going on during games.

It's Time For Jack

Jun 5, 2012, 12:54 AM

to "manage" the team from the dugout - well, like Ray Tanner does. Find a good coach and put him at third base.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

same argument was made about Bowden. change can be painful

Jun 5, 2012, 3:30 AM [ in reply to Agree..but canning Leggett isn't the answer. ]

When coaches are good people and have been a part of the family for so long it is doubly tough but you have to be able to evaluate the program on performance and not tenure or Sunday school attendance.

The baseball program is certainly worse off than just five years ago. The only question is who is better to revive it, if that is Jack, so be it, but the question needs to be seriously evaluated and not dismissed because of what he has done in the past.

Losing "badly" to the Chickens 3 straight years in football. (lose this year, Dabo needs to go!!!) and losing in just about everything else to the Coots.

I can take splitting with the Coots in hoops and baseball, but football. NO!!!!!!!!!
