Uh oh. Amari Rodgers has forgotten the rule....

Dec 27, 2016, 6:35 PM

When you're committed, you're All In, there are no more visits....

Amari Rodgers spent six months last year committed to USC before recommitting and eventually pledging to Clemson. Rodgers, the nation's No. 71 prospect, is one of the Tigers' most vocal recruiters, but USC is hoping to get one last crack at flipping him back to Troy. Rodgers will take his official visit to Clemson on Jan. 13, but said he could take another one.

"I may go to Southern Cal after that, but I have to talk with my family and talk with my dad," Rodgers said.

Rodgers' dad is USC offensive coordinator Tee Martin.

"He wants me to come out there one more time on an official visit," Rodgers said. "I might do that just to see what's up out there."

When you were 18, would you take a free trip to California? I would.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Then he's not committed. It's a pretty basic rule.

Dec 27, 2016, 6:39 PM

The only exception is that him going out there could simply be to see his dad.....if that's how he wanted to spin it.

Dec 27, 2016, 7:08 PM [ in reply to Re: Then he's not committed. It's a pretty basic rule. ]

I have seen him publicly be an active recruiter, I'm sure he's a solid commitment. However...., it's Dabo's rule (not mine) and it's good rule.

And no "14" "F'n" tiger tattoo changes that.

Re: BTW...

Dec 27, 2016, 7:12 PM

Pretty sure no one would get a Tiger "all in" tattoo across their chest then flip to southern cal in less than a week. This whole post is just ridiculous. He's 18, taking a free trip, that's it. Shaq Smith took his visits, see where he ended up? Right back at Clemson. Seeing "what's up" out there, to me, is a kid taking a free trip to California because he's never been. Wouldn't look much into it.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's not ridiculous.

Dec 27, 2016, 7:41 PM

Nobody is debating whether he's take a trip, flip, decommit, etc, etc. Nobody's saying if he decommits that he won't end up at Clemson. You're arguing all these hypothetical situations and tattoos, not me.

All I said was, Dabo has a rule and he's talking about breaking it by taking another visit after already committing to Clemson. Period. End of discussion.

Re: BTW...

Dec 27, 2016, 7:19 PM [ in reply to BTW... ]

I agree that it's a good rule but Dabo messed up a little by stretching the rule for different players. It certainly helped us with Sammy Watkins. But then, just this past year, he allowed Feaster, Cooper & Powell all to go on visits after committing to Clemson. Where did all 3 of them end up?

Clemson.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Big difference the 3 guys you talk about

Dec 27, 2016, 7:37 PM

did it without Dabo or any of the other coaches knowing it. Shaq Smith was up front about his and Dabo told him that if he did that they wouldn't consider him committed so he decommitted and did it the right way. The 3 you are talking about had to do major major damage control especially Feaster if you don't remember. Dabo's rule isn't if you take one without him knowing your offer is rescinded, no he doesn't do that but you better reaffirm your Clemson pledge which is what all 3 did. The rule is the rule and the same for every recruit whether you want to see it that way or not. If a kid does go without the permission of the coaching staff and even after reaffirmed his commitment you can bet that Dabo still has a backup plan. Don't like how some act as if its a hardline and once crossed a kid "has to get his offer taken" or "Dabo does it for some and not others" which couldn't be farther from the truth and quite frankly don't you think other recruits and parents would see favoritism with Dabo and think twice about committing to Clemson? Dabo isn't stupid......

Feaster went without telling Dabo and it created quite a shitstorm. Cooper and Powell didn't go anywhere after committing.
They both mentioned possible visits but both declined to do so after talking to Dabo.

Dabo's rule is not to BS him and leave him out of the loop, which this kid obviously is not doing.

If this is the case, he's gone. I don't know why in hell

Dec 27, 2016, 7:53 PM [ in reply to Re: Uh oh. Amari Rodgers has forgotten the rule.... ]

these kids do this. We could have had our pick of top-300 receivers. Now he wants to play these games in January? His dad is USC offensive coordinator and he will end up there. It makes no sense to me that we get caught flatfooted like this with no relationship with a comparable replacement. I hope we get on the phone with a comparable receiver ASAP and cut him loose.

Blast me if you want, but I was the first to say this about Nkemdiche and his games and I was right.

Dec 27, 2016, 8:02 PM [ in reply to If this is the case, he's gone. I don't know why in hell ]

All I'm saying is we were saying all the same #### about Powell, Feaster, Smith, Cooper, etc., and they all ended up here. People read headlines and jump to conclusions without ever knowing the whole story. How do we know Amari hasn't notified the coaches? 10 hours ago the kid was retweeting the video of our beloved Tigers deboarding the plane in Arizona. We have a huge game to play against Ohio State in 4 days and we are taking about one of our most pro-clemson recruits as if it's a foregone conclusion that he said any of what was posted above, hasn't talked to Dabo prior, and / or is going to California. I don't get some of you guys. Yesterday it was nonstop conjecture on the front page of everyone trying to guess who is transferring after reading some TCI post. We have the best stable of quarterbacks at clemson from now until at least 2021 and now we are debating whether or not Amari Rodgers is all in? Like I said above, if the "rule is the rule", how did we allow 4 kids to stretch it in the last year alone? Sounds awfully elastic to me. And arguing over assumptions & hearsay is a waste of time.

Dad coaches USC. Probably made a few trips to California.***
