How much money do cologne/perfume companies make…

That they only have to advertise during November and December? And why do they hire the absolute worst ad companies? Every commercial make me feel like some kind of pedo!

I mostly wear soap and toothpaste.

I dabble in mouthwash. I have tried body sprays a couple of times in my life but they were all too strong. I’d rather hide my addiction behind my natural sweat and stank.

Have to use something since I shave with a double edge safety razor. That burn is my fix every morning.

I see all these new after shave lotions that advertise that they don't burn. What's the point of that?

Its typically a triple digit margin

celebrities like a Kardashian or a Britney Spears kind usually fetch less, like into the 70's due to royalties and such. Its an awesome business and why places like Ulta and Sephora are kicking tail, especially Ulta.

You being mathematically or linguistically nuanced with this one?
Why can't something be sold at a 200% profit margin over cost?

It can be sold at a 1000% markup over cost
Nov 23, 2021, 9:53 PM

But profit margin would only be 99.9%
At 10,000% markup profit margin would be 99.99%
Product has a cost of $1 and is sold for $10,000. Profit is $9,999. $9,999 / $10,000 = 99.99%. If product has a cost - which every product has - profit margin cannot be 100% let alone greater than.

My Dad had Old Spice and English Leather as options. He paired whichever one with Speed Stick lime deodorant. He was a real renaissance man. He might even add some powder. Head and shoulders shampoo with Dial bar soap as well. He always did the same since I was very small. I remember those because it never changed. That's a lot of smells going on.

I've never bought a bottle of cologne in my life
Nov 24, 2021, 10:44 AM

every one I have has been a gift. And they are all still full bottles.
I don't really see the point if you shower every morning. Aftershave, I can understand, and have used, esp with the rare electric razor shave, to keep the skin from getting ashy and dry.
Cologne reminds me of old bosses I've had in the past whose offices reeked of Old Spice or English Leather or something.

I remember seeing a BOD for men body spray commercial and buying some of it. It came in a spray bottle that looked like a windex bottle. The fragrance was “really ripped abs” lol.
