At Tulane, tigers struggled to win 13 - 9 , went on to win all games, beat Nebraska in Orange Bowl for National Championship. About 300 Tiger fans rode on Amtrack Train to New Orleans from Charlotte Area, we had a ball !!!

We also only beat NC State 17-7.....game was much closer than that. I remember leaving the stadium feeling lucky to win. NC State only won four games that year.

We always get the best game from UNC, NC State, GA Tech, etc.
We are THE game for them.

That is also the year we hung 82 points on Wake Forest. Guess who our next opponent will be? I am predicting 82 for the homecoming game. Are you ready????

Yes, we struggled against Tulane that year, and believe me, nobody was happy about it then, either. I hope we get things fixed and win out like we did then, instead of having early season problems cost us later on, like they usually do.

I hope we get things fixed also! This is certainly a team in disarray. Maybe this team will do better and not implode and drop out of the top twenty like some expect.

great coaches, so I feel good about getting things fixed. However, there are probably only 3, maybe 4 games left that we can win if we play like we did Thursday.

Two of those games are in the Valley so I think we will see a difference. Maryland is an unknown right now. I can remember games with the Terps really turning our team around. Remember the 'balloon' game? The game in Columbia is a long time away and lots can happen. By then Clowney may be back in the lineup and we will not have a chance! By then Boyd may really be on target and we have a little chance to beat a powerful and wonderfully coached team!

I remember being extremely concerned about the Tulane game that season (and you're right, it was the 2nd game) mainly because no one knew much about the Green Wave. As Jim Phillips voice faded from the broadcast, I just recall being happy to get out of N'awlins with a W.

The game wasn't on TV and no internet, so certainly not to

the degree we see these days, but I remember the feeling was that we struggled and did not play very well. I think it's worth noting that Tulane did go on that year to beat Vanderbilt, Air Force, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Memphis, and LSU.
