Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

It's like they say about holding. If they don't call it, it didn't happen. Even if targeting had been called and the UGA player ejected, that doesn't undue the concussion protocol that caused him to sit.

It would've given them a 1st down from either the 3 or 4 yard line instead of 4th and goal so maybe they score a touchdown there to go up by 18 instead of the field goal that put them up by 14.

Who knows how things would've gone though. Overall though, I tend to think Ohio State finds a way to win with Harrison playing in the 4th, but injuries are part of the game. The Ohio State defense gave up 18 points in the 4th quarter and that's not due to Harrison being hurt.

It would have given them the ball at the 3 with a fresh set

of downs instead of having to settle for 3...At the very least, the offending player would be sitting the first half tonight

It was a good no call. Real time it looked like targeting. But it was just a big clean hit. The replay at the 40 second mark on the youtube link shows the GA player drop and lead with his right shoulder.

No doubt about it

First time I've seen that.

He didn't lead with the helmet and didn't lunge. He did strike a defenseless player at the shoulders so it was a judgement call. I could see it being called either way. I probably would have flagged it without ejecting the player.

it was less of targeting than Skalski on Justin Fields.

take you're orange tinted classes off. It was a violent hit but he led with his shoulder

That was the intent of the rule, to get that specific hit out of football. That is textbook targetting.

And you are right. If Harrison plays they had nobody who could guard him. OSU wins by 7

If our QB wasn't speared vs Auburn we would have won the game there. If Cade had played vs SC...if Ship or Mahfa had the ball more. Woulda, coulda, shoulda.

Class of ‘71. Went through “rat season” and glad I did.

Totally agree the official’s missed the call or got it wrong but the bigger question is why??

IMO it’s because it was UGA and they wanted him for the NC game and it’s all about the ratings, TV money etc.. basically it comes down to money for ESPN!

I believe officials are missing more calls than ever and I believe there are some teams that can get away with almost anything. It’s because of the HC, the school and which teams bring in the best ratings.

If 3 or 4 officials can’t get it right using instant replay there is a reason for it. It’s all about the $$$$$$$$$$ ! I don’t believe the NFL or college football care about the players safety or health. Just get them on the field we need high ratings so they can charge big money for advertising. Then they show 100 plus commercials per game.

That was a definite targeting hit. The hit was even unnecessary because OSU’s player looked like he had already stepped out of bounds and did not have control of the ball.
IMO -Cheap Shot ! Announcer’s and Official’s need to get eye exams. Lol how can they miss that call or did they purposely miss it ???

100% NOT targeting. That was all shoulder. Ringo's helmet didn't touch him. I was a violent hit, but a legal, violent hit.

ANY forcible contact to the head and neck area. You don't get a d@$n concussion from getting hit in the shoulder. Anybody that couldn't see that needs to visit the nearest opthimologist asap!

It was actually shoulder to shoulder. Pretty clear to see.

Spoken like a true Ohio State fan. “If Ross’ incomplete pass would’ve been called a catch and fumble, we would have won” is all I heard after the 2019 Fiesta Bowl.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Does seem with Marvin they win

Jan 9, 2023, 5:07 PM

but I would not call targeting
