UGA has lost confidence in Kirby Smart.

Smart has proven he lacks the temperament and in game management ability to win a championship, but he’s been able to hang his hat on recruiting. Clearly that has changed. It appears the UGA administration has grown tired of his recruiting misses and has mandated he go after proven players in the portal, or start looking for a new job. And once a coach loses the confidence of the administration, well, we all know what happened to Larry Coker. At this point I give Smart no more than 3 years at Georgia.

That is why they made Kirby take in a proven winner in the SEC like Will Muschamp. That is when I knew the writing was on the wall for Kirby.

program in the meantime. We all saw what happened to GT, they had to resort to the option just to eek out 6-7 wins because Chan Gailey, who is not much different in coaching ability and recruiting prowess than Smart, left the cupboard bare in Atlanta.

I bumped into Gailey and his staff at a sports bar on Collier road in Atlanta one time. Those boys liked to drink, so did I at the time. . They kept bragging about this receiver they had in store for Clemson. Welp, we all learned about Megatron on Saturday. But I thought it was a trip these guys were out getting loaded the week before a game.
