This also illustrates how serious the combination of game-day absences (injuries / illnesses) and (for the early part of the season ... not yet knowing who to block or where to go) can impair both the O-Line's performance and subsequently the offense's overall performance.
Despite what has turned out to a nearly-historically thin O-Line, if our main remaining 5 O-Line starters are reasonably healthy (i.e., able to overcome still-tender ankle and other banged-up conditions), then DJ will hopefully find time to do his check-downs and deliver the ball successfully.
Will we have enough people to catch the ball? That may be the biggest ??? for Saturday.
You know it's got to be bad when our OC makes a statement that our oline got pushed around by UConn. But we already knew that by our paltry rushing numbers. Sad, that's really sad. Embarrassing that a small amount of injuries to our oline room would cause such havoc.
And did not tell coaches until after the game? I know there is a badge of honor playing hurt, but at some point key players need to let coaches know they are hurt. That said, it is not like we are deep at QB. That is an issue that needs to get fixed next year. Portal?
Do we have ANY healthy QB who can run? (asking for a BUNCH of friends).
