UCF seem to be the topic of the day.... Here is my take.

Nov 2, 2018, 8:14 AM

UCF seem to be emerging as the next Boise State as a force in the lower tier conferences. Boise State came on the big boys football radar as a reckoning force when they beat Oklahoma in the 2006 Fiesta Bowl. They also added 2 more Fiesta Bowl wins since...
All I am saying give UCF some respect. They are winning games. Can UCF win a National Championship? Properly not. Unless they move into a Power 5 conference. One thing I do like to add if any team in the country play these guys give them the respect that they deserve.

Boise State didn't self proclaim a National Championship and put it on their stadium. UCF's wasn't earned and it takes away from the team that did earn it. I think that is why all the disrespect. If UCF had not done that I think they would have a lot more people pulling for them across the country.

I think I heard that the official NCAA press release said UCF was national champion.

We will see next year when UCF plays Stanford and Pitt

That is very true.I agreed with you on that point. Don't put fake banners on your stadium unless you have earned it. My point was these guys are on a 21 game winning streak. They are doing what they supposed to be doing...winning games. If Clemson was to play UCF this season I would not take them lightly.I would definitely respect them as a program. Nothing more. :)

They actually did win a national title, though.

There are so many split national titles throughout the years, IDK why everyone has to be up in arms about this one.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yeah it's probably 10x more legitimate than several titles

Nov 2, 2018, 8:58 AM

that Bama claims.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The problem is that UCF cannot "earn" a national

Nov 2, 2018, 8:58 AM [ in reply to Re: UCF seem to be the topic of the day.... Here is my take. ]

championship. There's no way they are ever getting into the playoff, and that's kind of a joke. What other sport begins the season with half of the teams already out of title contention regardless of how good they are? Either go to larger playoff and include a G5 team or split the G5 off into their own tier where they can have their own title game. The current system is dumb.

Yes! I agree 100% with you on that

IMO, they ARE getting respect. Being #12 in the CFP ranking is generous based on the couple of games I have watched. Again, most people agree that if ANY TEAM in the top 15, maybe top 20, played their schedule this season, they would also be undefeated.

So, they are getting respect and IMO top 10 at any point this season is being generous.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So let them schedule Bama or Clemson

Nov 2, 2018, 8:31 AM

O310 State, Okrahomer, Texas

Whoever needs an o-o-c home game. With their current schedule they don't deserve consideration. Total joke to claim a championship. Florida coots is all they are.

The definition of awesome!

SCar is looking for a game on 12/1

Nov 2, 2018, 9:12 AM

Possibility? Could they beat a mighty SEC team?

I am sure they have been on the phone for years trying to schedule games vs top programs but I don't think it's that easy. If you were AD at any of those schools you listed would you chose to play UCF over a different OOC team from power 5? Probably not..it's a lose-lose. If you win, great you should have beat the team from the lesser conference (ie GA Southern). If lose or even win a close one watch out...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's hard to take any team seriously...

Nov 2, 2018, 9:11 AM

that has a strength of schedule ranking of 127th nationally.

So far this year, only one opponent they've faced has a winning record and UCF needed a lot of help from the officials to escape unbeaten.

As weak as the AAC is, they need to be playing at least four Power 5 opponents every year.

Respect is earned not demanded.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

I think we can respect them for what they are without

Nov 2, 2018, 9:19 AM

constantly crapping all over them and their schedule. They are a very good team that could go toe to toe with most programs in the country right now. Are they a playoff caliber team? No, not in my opinion. But they are a legit top 10-15 caliber team this year, and that's after fielding a top 10 team last year. That's pretty impressive.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No...they are not a "very good" team !!!!

Nov 2, 2018, 9:22 AM

They are an above average team feasting on weak competition.

Their defense is HORRIBLE

Most teams in the top 10 or 15 would beat them like they stole something.

I think they're properly ranked at 10-12.

Nov 2, 2018, 9:24 AM

that's as far as they should climb though. Those teams are successful in bowls b/c no one is happy to be playing them. Its a lose-lose game to be apart of if you're a power conference team. If you win (who cares) if you lose (you look bad.) But they deserve to play in a decent bowl against a top 15 team.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'd put them between 15 and 12...

Nov 2, 2018, 9:39 AM

but I don't think they're a legitimate top 10 team.
