elusive, electric RB we've ever had. Etienne was extremely fast and explosive as well, and a little tougher and harder to bring down post-contact, but few college players ever had the ability to go from 0 to 100 as quickly as CJ.

fear into the defense that he could take it to the house at ANY time on ANY play from ANY where like CJ. Back when Powell was our running backs coach and ST coach I actually called him and said,"Coach, I have a secret play for you that just might win a ball game. It will only work once, but it may change a game". He said,"OK..what?". I said,"well, it needs to be late in a tight game, say 2 to 2 and a half minutes left. We will either be up by say 2 or down by 4, and we need to be on about our own 40 to 45 (You will have to think all of this through before you see how this would be required}. AND IT WILL HAVE TO BE 4th down for us". He said,"Ok, so what". And I said," Ok,so it will have to also be about 4th and 3, 4th and 4. And you send out the punt team and you TROT CJ OUT AS PUNTER!". Powell said,"And then...". I sad," AND THEN? Coach...(IF WE ARE AHEAD BY 2...) the other team is gonna burn a time out! If they have ten guys up there and a guy back deep, NO WAT THHEY CAN STOP CJ FROM GETTING 3 or 4 yard around the corner....". He said,"If I were them, I'd just let Clemson run the play". ANd I said," Then they would be an idiot!"..and he hung up. True story. But I swear, it would have worked, AND CJ IS THE ONLY PLAYER WE HAVE EVER HAD THAT COULD HAVE MADE THAT WORK. I honestly believe, we would have made them burn a timeout, or CJ would have picked up the first down. I guess Powell didn't think much of a REAL ESTATE SALESMAN's football IQ.

That was my first season as a booster and season ticket holder. Both of those big plays happened at the 50 which is where my seats were. I remember in the 4th quarter play, we were dominating and it was 3rd and 4. I figured the swing pass was just a play to run some clock before punting it. Then Spiller did his thing and my jaw was just dropped the whole time. Great player and great memory. Thank you!

Man...we need to actually see how good Spiller really was from time to time. He's still my favorite Clemson RB. You were in the perfect spot to catch it all

Two unique running styles for each Spiller & Etienne…

Both are clearly at the top of the list for great Clemson RBs.
However, when I watch highlights of both of them, you clearly see two running styles.
Your thoughts on two (2) key features between CJ & Travis that are unique to each one’s style of running?

in space would juke guys so out of their shoes that he didn't HAVE to run through tackles, as they never touched him!
I would have to take Travis on short yardage due to his extra power. But, it would be CJ all day long in the passing game. All he needed was a one yard opening.
