TV Commentators sounded like "amature hour" rejects

Oct 7, 2013, 12:26 PM

The Fact, the commentators for the Clemson @ 'Cuse game were really bad.

Calling it style points in the first half is just ridiculous! Clemson was running their offense, and after seeing how the 3rd quarter started, I would have sure like to have another 7 points!

The commentators also kept "palmering", all over "cuse" celebrating a defensive stop... over and over again. Maybe a little point could be made once , but jeepers...football is a game of emotion.

THey should have made a bigger point about the Syracuse coach's cussing rant. i.e

"Hey , it looks like Shafer has his panties in a wad...what does he want Dabo to do in the second quarter ? envoke the mercy rule?"

...then they could have added, "I bet Coach Shafer just made his Momma, many of his teams fans, and his AD proud"

...maybe even add..."this is surprising behavior from Shafer, he and his team have been running their mouths all week about Clemson, maybe they should have been focusing more on a way to stop this Clemson offense!"

...maybe even add..."ya know shafer did say that it was going to be hot in the dome, and that Clemson has never experienced that kind of heat, maybe we should give shafer a break, the heat just got to him.

At any rate, games over bring on BC!

I thought they handled it all pretty well.

They did get on the cuse coach and players for their actions, and were very complimentary.

There's no such thing as a stupid question, just stupid people who ask questions.

Really? I thought they were much, much better than Palmer or

Agreed

They did not seem to talk as much as usual, I liked them

What feed were you watching?

I recorded the game and watched it yesterday. McDonough actually went to Syracuse-- you never would have known it-- and Spielman is a great, level-headed color analyst. McDonough made one comment about Shafer's tirade (something to the effect of "I don't blame him") and Spielman instantly countered him, saying "It's not Clemson's job to stop Clemson-- that's Syracuse's job". End of discussion. I thought those guys did a nice job.

(Also, yes, Spielman called out the 'Cuse defenders ridiculous celebrations, too.)

This.

Sean McDonough is one of the best announcers regardless of sport (I believe he does college football, college basketball, golf and baseball). Good point about him being a Syracuse grad and not showing it. I'm really not sure what game the OP was watching.

Well in my defense...maybe it was the combination of Little Debbie cakes and Miller Lite , combined with the Scottsdale AZ Heat?

"When I was young, I was sure of many things; now there are only two things of which I am sure: one is, that I am a miserable sinner; and the other, that Christ is an all-sufficient Saviour. He is well-taught who learns these two lessons." -John Newton

They were a lot better than the Wake game commentators

Oct 7, 2013, 12:50 PM

but really it does seem like there are a lot of mediocre commentators nowadays.
