Tucker Israel Ranking?

Oct 9, 2014, 2:44 PM

How can this QB who has broken records for most TD passes, most yardage by any Fla. QB not be rated and be given a 3* rating by Rivals?? Is it his size? Fran T. was 'bout 5'10" and played pro ball forever with the Vikings.

The level of competition is low

He is killing the SCISA or 1A school football teams. No fault of his own, he's tearing them up! The QB who owned the record before him is playing at Wake Forest.

Same thing is happening in Kentucky this year

Elijah Sindelar is going to break all of Tim Couch's records, at 6'5 200 pounds he is still a 3* player. He plays for 1A/2A type team that is simply better than everyone else. It's hard to judge how good a QB is when he as all day to throw to wide open targets.

Oh I thought you meant Kentucky's offense

Max preps says he plays in 7A division. That's sound good to me. Or does Fla do their divisions different?

If he were 6'3" he'd be higher (pun intended)***

Easy- he is an early commit to a non-sec Clemson. BTW, he

is doing some SERIOUS recruiting on our behalf and his OL or Mossad for Clemson.

Fran Tarkenton entered the NFL

53 years ago. The game of football has changed a lot in the past 10 years, let alone 50.

I'm not saying 5'10" QBs can't play or don't deserve to be highly ranked, but there are only 2 relevant QBs in the NFL under 6 feet tall. They're Russel Wilson and Johnny Manziel, both of whom are tremendous runners.

Drew Brees is right at 6 feet tall, and he's pretty much the only height-challenged pocket-passer in pro football. You'd be amazed at what he has to do to make up for his lack of height. He basically has to stand on his tip-toes on every play just to see anything, and his receivers say a lot of the times they can't even see him when he throws the pass. For that reason a lot of Drew Brees led-offenses are based on timing and precision rather than reading defenses. His height also almost necessitates their offense be run out of the shotgun.

The college game is a bit more forgiving when it comes to height, but if you're not going to be over 6 feet tall, you better be mobile and be able to throw on the run. It will be interesting to see how he transitions from the lower levels of FL HS football to Clemson. I think he'll end up being pretty good because he does throw a good ball and seems to have good timing at the HS level, but I think it will take him a lot of time.

The star rating is as much about potential as anything, and unfortunately his height will always be seen as limiting factors. Johnny Manziel was a 3 star and Russel Wilson was a 2 star QB coming out of high school, so it's not impossible to succeed being a shorter QB, but the odds are against you.

Because he committed to an ACC team, not an SEC team. If he had committed to Bama or Auburn, he'd be in the Heisman talk before he ever played his first game.

He is a system qb. His high school coach throws the ball on every play so his numbers don't mean much.

Just face it. He's no Logan Thomas.
