Tua Tagovailoa makes decision on NFL

It's official. Alabama junior quarterback Tua Tagovailoa declared early for the 2020 NFL Draft during a press conference on Monday. "It was a hard decision all Read Update »

dont do what they contemplated when Tebow left. SHutting down college ball due to lack of interest. ESPN will make it sound as though they should

Papa Tagovailoa said, "leave, let your brother play"!

Jan 6, 2020, 12:40 PM

If he stays his brother sits another year and that's no good for the family. He's an accurate guy who can run a bit(when healthy). Probably the best decision for him at this time. Besides, as I said, his brother is sitting in the wings just using up eligibility! Better to get him some run and hopefully you get two Tagovailoa's in the league.

That means not much. Of course they will want folks to think they have added, rather than lost talent. He may be better, but time will tell.

When Rivers graduated from NC State ESPN made it sound like that would finish college football forever. Game over man!

It's better for him not to risk another injury.

Looking ahead probably...

Jan 6, 2020, 1:02 PM

Not that he would fall that much or if he will be the first this year (highly unlikely)

But If/When T. Lawrence goes next year he would be the first and Tua was probably thinking let me get in there before him so I can get as high as possible and possibly the 1st QB (if he can slide in before golden boy Burrow)

It will be interesting to see...

if the injury impacts his draft status.

The more prudent move may have been to play at Bama another year and prove that he has fully recovered from the injury.

We've all been told the surgery was successful. However, that’s successful by the surgeon’s standards, not necessarily NFL standards, and not all teams have the same standards for risk/reward analysis when it comes to evaluating players with question marks surrounding their status.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

I think he might go top 10-15 instead of top 3

Jan 6, 2020, 4:08 PM

But i would be surprised if he fell further than that unless he just fails the medicals.

As a general rule, I don't think it's ever wise for a football player who is guaranteed to receive an initial NFL contract to play one additional game for free than is necessary. In Tua's case, the upfront signing is worth more than most people earn in a lifetime. His injury history is a risk...let an NFL franchise take that risk. If he injures himself again at Bama, he might not make a nickel from football.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Why is risking MORE injury for free the safest bet? He will

Jan 6, 2020, 6:10 PM [ in reply to It will be interesting to see... ]

be the 2nd QB drafted, probably by the Dolphins...If he gets re-injured in the League, he is much better off

So now the SEC has no competition for CLEMSON next year? With Joe and Tua leaving, the SEC has no team that's all that good next year. And no, UGA and UF are not all that good. Give me a break.

Jan 6, 2020, 5:35 PM [ in reply to Re: TNET: Tua Tagovailoa makes decision on NFL ]

If I was a NFL team, I wouldn't waste a draft choice on him.

I hate it for the kid. He is likeable and was pretty good before he got hurt. He's now had 5 or 6 injuries that have cost him games and unfortunately this one may cost him his career.

To.e will tell.

He will get drafted by a quality team later in the first round, Sit out of year and hold a clip board while rehabbing. He’d be a #### good fit in New Orleans and possibly the successor to drew brees.
