There is one topic that recurrs on here that I just do not

get. People seem obsessed with the Hill being full. I got some breaking news for you, the Hill has NEVER been completely full. I remember well back when I was there, kids sliding down the Hill on cardboard "sleds" every game. And, they had plenty of room to do so.

I remember in the 90's and 00's the hill was basically full

whenever the team would run down, even in years when we didn't have very good teams. I think it was because anyone in the stadium could walk over to the hill and stand there whenever they wanted to, so people would go for a while then go to their seats for a while, etc.

I disagree.

I graduated the same year as you and we pretty much sucked all except our Jr. season when we went undefeated at home. The other 3 years we were 4-7, 2-6, 5-9. Usher in the Danny era and the stadium was so packed that we built the north upper deck.

True dat.

But the hill was primarily students and kids when I was there. And there are more than twice as many students now than then.

The hill will be full when if we have a sellout, standing room only crowd. That does happen for Furman and La. Tech.

I never missed a home game from 1964 thru 1992, except for when I was on Active Duty with the US NAVY, and I saw the "Hill" packed many, many times. Especially for the UGA games in the late 70'2 and early 80's and also for many other home games. I remember playing Alabama, when Kenny Stabler was their QB, the place was Jam Packed, also when Notre Dame and Joe Montana was there. "The Hill" has definitely been full many times.

When I was a teenager in the 70s, my buddy and I had a plan

involving the hill. We both had seats in the stadium (parent's season ticket holders), but we'd always wander over to the hill. We'd flip a coin, and the winner would stand on the hill, and try to catch the next FG or extra point. The loser would go out through the gate, onto the sidewalk. I think after halftime you could exit and reenter the stadium with no problem. The plan was, instead of throwing the ball back like you were supposed to do, the one on the hill catches the ball as it is kicked, then turns and throws it to the one waiting on the sidewalk, who makes a run for it. We were NEVER successful, but of course, we were dum.

Hill was SRO in 1990 or so.

No one was sledding down it.
