As awesome as it would be for Alabama to lose...

Nov 10, 2012, 4:41 PM

it would actually keep us from getting a BCS bid because the SEC will still get 2 spots. If one is not in the championship game, then we are left out!

Don't think so. The championship game counts

Nov 10, 2012, 4:47 PM

The SEC will get 2 teams in the BCS no matter what. The only way they can get 3 teams is some kind of crazy scenario where #1 and #2 are both from the SEC but neither is the conference champ. The conference champ can be the 3rd team. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

which two teams?

Nov 10, 2012, 4:49 PM

Let's say Bama loses here, then wins the SECC against Georgia. That would give Georgia two losses, and depending on how badly they lose to Bama, they wouldn't be in the top 10. If Florida loses to FSU and USC loses to Clemson, they're not BCS teams.

So who else would be in the BCS besides Bama, assuming they win the SECC?

LSU perhaps?

Nov 10, 2012, 4:52 PM

Also I wouldn't assume that losing to Bama would push UGA out of the top ten. SEC teams don't seem to drop very far for losing SEC games.

not sure their Florida loss would look all that great

Nov 10, 2012, 5:00 PM

but I suppose I'm underestimating the SEC bias in the rankings

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I tend to overestimate it, so the truth is likely somewhere

Nov 10, 2012, 5:06 PM

in between.

LSU....***

the SEC is not getting two spots just because Bama lost

Nov 10, 2012, 4:47 PM

that would mean Bama lost the SECC to Georgia, and if they did that they wouldn't be an at large team. Assuming Florida and USC lose to FSU and Clemson, they're not getting at-large bids either.

Methinks it sounds like we are setting up for an old

Nov 10, 2012, 4:50 PM

fashioned ACC-SEC showdown that has BCS implications...will the ACC rise up and take care of business in that sort of crucial situation!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

yep...

Nov 10, 2012, 4:55 PM

I'm not sure Georgia gets into the BCS with two losses after losing the SECC, so SEC only gets two teams if Florida beats FSU. They could get three teams if Florida beats FSU and Georgia looks good against Bama in a loss, or if Bama ends up beating ATM and losing to Georgia in the SECC.

Re: yep...

Nov 10, 2012, 5:27 PM

No, there's a limit of two teams per conference. No way the sec gets 3 in.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Bama and TA&M would be ranked ahead of us...

Nov 10, 2012, 4:53 PM

...with an upset. Don't think it would hurt as that much as far as an at large bid, but wouldn't help us in the BCS rankings (not that it matters that much). I love the upsets, but hoping bama ends up with the W.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

not at the end of the year after Clemson beats USC

Nov 10, 2012, 4:56 PM

we just need to take care of business. But these top teams losing does help us.
