Tre Williams

is a warrior and ultimate competitor. I love his attitude of fighting through injuries to want to be on the field.

Absolutely. His commitment to his teammates and the program is awesome. We need more just like him.

shoulder issues. And, it is not a new problem. Shaq Lawson and Austin Bryant are two names that immediately come to mind. What gives, other than their shoulders, pardon the pun?

Good question. Maybe someone on the board is in sports medicine. I've wondered if this is common with other teams. Is it an injury like Tommy Johns that was kinda rare but now you can't hardly find a pitcher without it... Or is it just us.

Just pure speculation here, but I would imagine a large percentage of shoulder injuries from DL stem from constantly being blocked while trying to reach out and grab a ball carrier running past you at full speed.

If you think about it, that is a ton of force placed on the shoulder to try to stop a grown man from running while using the rest of your energy to try to keep from being pushed out of your spot.

Not a sports medicine guy but...played alot of football in my day (O-line and D-line).
Injuries like this in defensive linemen are more common due to the "swim move" and ripping motions associated with attempting to beat a block from an o-lineman. This motions allows for the shoulder be moved or pushed in ways that it is not necessarily designed to go. Couple that motion with opposite force from the o-lineman, and some issues are bound to arise. These probability of these injuries is increased in college where not only the d-lineman is stronger, but so is the offensive lineman blocking them. Furthermore, as someone else stated, your arms and shoulder get put in odd positions while trying to tackle, but especially on the D-line.
