of turf at that stadium. Between the cold weather and a typical rain game, the turf would usually get gnarled up and worn out by mid-November.

I know the guy whose turf company did the turfwork for that stadium, he would have to go up there sometimes twice a season to replace the middle section of the field.

We live in that weird swatch of territory that's mostly too cold for warm-season grasses and mostly too hot for cool-season grasses. That's why Mike Echols is such a genius - how he does it is amazing.
