They've healthy young kids, and don't listen to parents or anybody else. I'm sure they think the virus is like a hangover, given time, they get better.

The good news for young victims, once they have had the virus (yes, I know it has not been fully studied), they will be immune for a period of time.

I believe there was a study of SEC schools, where 70K have tested positive, but only 3 required hospitalization. I'm sure numbers for the flu would be similar.

My daughter is at a small liberal arts school in Alabama. She's contracted the covid, and it has ripped through the rest of her track team. Mostly fever, aches, congestion - said it was the worst she'd ever felt, but recovered after about a week. Some are being careful and some aren't. Kids will be kids, I pray for their safety during their blissful/willful ignorance.

And that is the trick in the sentence...... once within a community network, it rips through. The risk is relatively low for those under 30 but mortality cases occur. Worse, it can rip through communities to the point that medical capacity can't keep up. That is the point of distancing masks, to not overwhelm the 1 ICU bed per 4,000 people in an urbanized area... rural communities might be 1 bed per 15,000+

I lost a healthy former coworker a couple of weeks ago and he was in his early 40s. Haven't lost a co-worker to the flu. The people is that the college kids still spread it like anyone else.

Is this surprising??

Oct 20, 2020, 7:13 AM

In a free society where the people are accustomed to freedom of travel and the right to association, there is a limit to how long the people will stay locked down to a highly survivable virus.

The media generated facade of COVID-19 being some virus in the image of "Captain Trips" has been laid bare by time and the data. These young people know that even if they get COVID-19 they have a 99.9% chance of surviving the infection as all other age groups under the age of 49. They have a higher risk of getting shot in Five Points than dying of COVID-19...

Risk of being shot: 1 in 315

Match checks out. However, bullets are normally contagious.

wearing masks in Five Points than those that are not.

Ask XT what he thinks about Covid 19 mild symptoms.

His response will likely be that you definitely don't want strep throat and COVID in succession in the way he had them.

Also Dabo has mentioned that XT not only struggled with recovery from his illnesses, but also from the fact that he lost so much strength over the summer because he lived in an area with no access to workout equipment.

If it was purely COVID that was causing XT all of these problems you would see many more of Clemson's players struggling similarly because I believe we have had somewhere in the neighborhood of 40-50 players who have tested positive from summer to now.

Some schools are identifying as many students as possible and sending them home to mom and dad. It gets everyones attention real fast. They all signed an agreement to follow guidelines. That is, if your goal is to stop it.

Totally off topic, but don't get the "mom jeans" look.

Not very flattering, but it seems to be the fashion these days.

My son, a senior in nursing at Clemson, said we are #1

Oct 20, 2020, 11:24 AM

In active cases among students. We passed UGA for the top spot a week or two ago. We live in a glass house on this one.

I’d say it’s not how many cases, but how the university responds to them that matters most. Testing, isolating, and insisting on upholding precautions matters. Keeping them at school and not sending them home to infect the high risk relatives is a big help.

Based on the clothing choices of these young women, I seriously doubt their judgement is any better regarding virus precautions or any other diseases they will spread.
