Trivia #1 - Who cares if it's a great Day to be a tiger?

What a day May 24 is.
Happy birthday to the 5th Crusade, Jamestown Va, the Methodist church, the Brooklyn Bridge, the helicopter, Bob Dylan, John C. Reilly, and Morse Code (kind of) - invented by the famous painter, Samuel Morse.
The House of Representatives and James Monroe, by Samuel Morse
But forget all that, because today was ALSO the first time this was done by two MLB teams, when the Cincy Reds beat the Philly Phillies 2-1 at old Crosley Field, in 1935.
What was it?

Grand Slam Father G! Nice!
Lou Chozza became the first man in the MLB to bat under the lights today in 1935. It was a famous time, because just a few days later in the same stadium, Kitty Burke, a burlesque performer, became the first woman to bat in a MLB game. She grounded out to first, but the crowd went wild at the publicity stunt.
And since those days it doesn't matter if it's a great day, because you have lights to play at night. Congrats!

do you know Crosley Field's connection to Clemson?

Bill Wilhelm patterned the outfield terrace at Beautiful Tiger Field after the slopes at Cincinnati's Crosley Field. He liked it better than a warning track.
https://www.mlb.com/news/story-of-crosley-field-s-sloped-outfieldThe story of Crosley Field's sloped outfield For some it was an endearing ballpark quirk. For the Reds, it could be a home-field advantage. For visiting teams, the sloped terrace in the outfield of Crosley Field could be downright annoying. "Crosley Field was a tough place for outfielders to play," Reds great outfielder and Hall of Famer

But it should be. What a great trivia question that would be. 30+ Methodist churches in Jamestown and not one named "The Fifth Crusade?" Tragic.

Off the top of my head 11 or so, but only the first three are what we think of as the classic "Crusades." Some of them were just weird, like a children's crusade led by a blind hermit, and some flamed out long before they even got near Jerusalem. Western Christian cities were as likely to get torched by crusaders on their way to Jeru as Muslim cities. It's a great story and a good candidate for a future Military Pron post or two.
