@Clemson or NFL?

If its college performance, Dwight Clark shouldn't be on the list.
If its NFL, he should be #1 or #2

Must disagree-Clark had the game winning TD at Maryland to bring home the ACC title back in 79 i believe!

at CU because our system has changed so much. Obviously Butler and Tuttle had some enormously important catches but the system they played in didn't place a premium on it. I guess the same could be said for QB's.

The main thing I remember about Airese Curry.......
Feb 21, 2013, 11:13 AM

is how he let a long touchdown bomb pass go right through his hands one night when we played Georgia in Athens - we would have won the game if he had caught that pass.

Slant with the pass thrown at his knees and he holds on to it as a defender tries to rip it away

This is a bit arbitrary because of the changes in both the college game as well as Clemson's approach. That's somewhat true at the top and even more so when you get down the list a little bit. Personally, I think that listing the top 5 and then an honorable mention list of 4-5 makes more sense. I's also tough to know where to put Sammy. Based off his true freshman season and an abreviated sophomore season, he's in the top 5, but I don't know that I can elevate him above guys who produced for 4 years.
1. Butler - So many clutch catches in a 2 season stretch that turned Clemson football around for a decade
2. Perry Tuttle - He started off as a great 2nd threat beside Butler and finished off as the top scoring threat on a national championship team. Some of the teams in between weren't great, but he always played well.
3. Jo Blaylock - I never saw him play and I marveled at the two guys I listed ahead of him, so this is where I put him based off history. Two time All American and participant in some of Clemson's best teams including the 1939 Cotton Bowl Champs. An 8-1 CU team ranked 12th beat a 9-1 BC team. Their only loss was to Tulane who finished the season ranked 5th with only one tie. They also trailed fellow Southern Conference member Duke (ranked 8th in the final poll) also 8-1. The two never played despite belonging to the same conference.
4. Nuk Hopkins - I know he plays in a different style offense, but his numbers are hard to ignore. I could write quite a lot here, but you've seen him first hand.
5t. Derrick Hamilton - I'm really not sure about this one. This is a guy, who if he had come back for his senior year, would be a slam dunk for the spot. He was amazing after the catch and could get separation like few others.
5t. Rod Gardner - Butler had the catch and Gardner had "the battle" because it was a battle between DB and WR to make the game saving catch against the chickens. They'd been battling the whole game and the refs had been letting it go. I'm just glad Gardner won that last battle.
As for the rest, putting them in any reasonable order is anything but clear cut.
Jacoby Ford Airese Currie Dwight Clark Chansi Stuckey Kevin Youngblood Sammy Watkins Terry Smith Tony Horne Arron Kelly Nuk Hopkins Gary Cooper

I love Clark as a pro, but in Clemson's offense, he didn't get much opportunity to shine. Of course, he had Butler and Tuttle getting most of the catches, but he had 17 receptions for 265 yards and 11 for 207 yards in '78 and '79 respectively.
