Tony Elliott

Sep 18, 2021, 9:57 PM

I Think it is unfair to try to pin all the blame on TE. Our quarterback play with #5 is bad we had several drops today and a few miscommunications with WR. We can’t really run the ball because of our sub par offensive line and we have not been creative enough in the run game. If you can’t throw the ball effectively then it will be hard to run and vice versa. We aren’t even trying the deep ball because we have no confidence in completing it and that is not on the play caller in my opinion. There is less of a chance to complete the deep ball so if you can’t run and the short pass game is not working how can you gamble and take a chance with a few deep balls. I am afraid the youth on offense is rearing it’s ugly head. The wide receivers have to step up and block better and run quicker cleaner routes. Tony Elliott is a great coach and Clemson man and now it is time to earn his paycheck, but if the QB play does not improve and the offensive line doesn’t improve then no play caller can work a miracle.

You're right about one thing - Tony is a Clemson man.

Maybe so, but with the talent level at the skil

positions, and we know DJ has skil,, there is some kind of disfunction. That falls on the coaches to fix

Against GA I'll agree with you about the O line problems. But DJ had time against SC State and Tech today. It's not all Tony It's mostly DJ. And also the fact that we don't have those types of receivers that are speed burners that can run quick routes. Cleaner? Yes! WE are sorely missing Renfrow and Jordan Leggett. We have not came close to recruiting their replacements. Galloway apparently can't even catch a ball.

Not impressed with Galloway's blocking either but they keep giving him a bunch of snaps. Allen is more dependable.

Yeah it is tough either way and there is no one thing that will fix it but we have to find a system that these guys can run effectively. The Kelly Bryant offense was limited but it was effective until we got to Bama.
TE and co have to find what works with these guys and build the play book around it.

Elliott is the O.C. He is directly responsible for the offensive performance.

Yes TE is the guy who has to do a better job all the way around period. He and Streeter both need to prepare and help develop the QB position. They are stinking it up this year so far.

Don’t completely agree here

Sep 18, 2021, 11:07 PM

IF we have WRs that can get behind a receiver and a QB who can throw the ball 70 yards in the air... that could open up the run game and the short passing game. If you don’t stretch the Defense you are missing the point.

I don’t think 5 has played great, but I do think a good OC would adapt to what he can do well and make game plans around that. Coaches are always responsible for chronic problems. Players can be faulted for effort or individual plays, but at a certain point these are our players and our coached recruited them, coaches them, chose to play them, and come up with the game plans.

No confidence in throwing the deep ball?? Those are 50/50 balls most of the time there’s no confidence involved … you take the shot and trust your wr that are all 5* to beat a bunch of 3* dbs … that’s 110% on Tony … that’s ridiculous to not even give them a chance to make a play at all , the defense didn’t respect us throwing at all down the field, every okay the two safeties were taking steps inching down … it’s a joke, TE is the highest paid OC in the country even if the line is not that great you figure out ways to move the dang ball
Period … and unfortunately dj isn’t close to Watson or Trevor to hide the crappy line or play calling

This. It is not like the terrible play calling and poor game planning is new. We have been complaining about it for years. The generational QBs have overcome it. It is not all TE but allot of it is.
