Tony broke UVA

Nov 12, 2022, 12:32 PM

They shouldn't be this bad.

I hear what he’s saying about can’t focus on the past, but he’s done a poor job evaluating what he had and installing a transitional system.

??for next year.

In his defense, he lost some key pieces off of last year’s team.

I still don’t think they should be this bad though.

The regression in their QB play is puzzling.

I just don’t see Tony being a successful power 5 head coach. He’s a nice guy, but too conservative and calculating in his approach. I am not convinced he is a player developer, nor do I see him having the personality to recruit well enough there unless he gets some good assistants that are ace recruiters.

He would be smart to bring Jeff Scott on board as OC ASAP.

Tony was a safe hire for UVA. Smart, accomplished as an assistant, and a minority coach. But I’ll be surprised if he lasts there more than a few years.

In hindsight, he had a great OC and QB coach (now at Syracuse) he should have kept around. I feel like they would have been more successful at transitioning, but he might have learned a thing or two about development. Those two guys should be Broyles finalists for their work this year.

I’m sure he’s already talking with Jeff.***

IDK. More of Dabo's coaching tree is probably the last thing UVA wants at this point. They are a disaster.

Taking the Jeff Scott approach.

Unbelievably bad… I’m surprised UVA has fallen this much. That rivalry game with Va Tech should be interesting.
