Tony Barnhart Was On The Radio This Morning ----

Aug 7, 2014, 10:21 AM

He said Clemson will not be as explosive on offense as
last year......but we will be balanced.

Any truth to this...thoughts???

Think that's a fair assessment

Of course we will be less explosive without Sammy. I do think Cole will be a good game manager though and we have enough talent to move the ball and score.

That sounds about right. You disagree with him?***

thoughts - he is an SEC homer with many chins. Other guys will step up and make explosive plays and actually with our strong D holding the ball a little longer before scoring just helps them stay even fresher

Depends on the definition of explosive...

Aug 7, 2014, 10:26 AM

We may have a stable of backs this year that bust loose, and nothing says that some of these young WRs can't bust out like Sammy a couple years ago. I think what he is saying is the general opinion, but this ain't Chad's first rodeo, and he's been recruiting for his system for a while now. We might come out and blow people's doors off.

We may not get as many long pass and run plays (although could have more run) but we'll be more efficient
Stoudt will check down more and keep more focus all over the field.
1. less 3 and outs
2. longer drives
3. less turnovers (at least with interceptions)

Sammy was special, and he was key to even the plays where he didn't get the ball, because the other teams had to track everywhere he went. i'd rather be more balanced, but will it work in the Chad's HUNH? if not, it could put more pressure on our defense.

Think BACK TO 2010...Tajh had not shown us a lot in his limited play and of course Sammy had not played a down. Of course we exploded out of the gate and won the ACC. I would argue that Cole is more prepared that Tajh was 3 years ago and we could surprise again....

^^^This

People quickly forget that Tajh looked less than impressive in the previous season without Morris and there was perceived to be NOBODY who could catch the football and make a play that year.

I think Cole with 3 years in the system is going to surprise a lot of people. This is getting overthought. I would be surprised at all to see much of a dropoff in total production from what we averaged over the previous 3.

And people who say "man, but Morris had Sammy and Nuk then"...exactly...and we could be saying the same thing about "Mike Williams and Artavis Scott/Charone Peake, etc by the end of this year.

That's a fair statement - it remains to be seen.......

with a new QB, etc. how we'll be.

This year (at least early on) we'll win games with our defense.

Of course he's right

We lost the best receiver in the history of the program who the NFL kinda liked, another receiver that ended up a 3rd round selection & arguably the best QB in the history of the program.

The good news with the defense we don't have to be as explosive.
