Today's Controversial Post ...Discuss Amongst Yourselves ...

Apr 5, 2021, 8:52 AM

Some "thinking" (a new concept) points:
- George Carlin said it best. "Just smart enough to run the machinery but dumb enough not to realize that they are getting screwed."
- "We have a system of indoctrination and not education. We teach kids (now adults ?) what to think and not how to think. There are "Several" I know on TigerNet ...."

Liberal arts major here.

Somehow I managed to buck the trend.

College was an exercise of determining what your professors want to hear, then giving them what they want to hear, while making sure you let them know you paid attention to what you read and to their lectures. Craft counter arguments from a position of agreeing with the professor's opinion, and never go into any depth on counter arguments beyond what the professor has addressed.

That's about all really. Was far easier than high school where they would require us to write one opinion paper, and then ANOTHER opinion paper advocating the opposite opinion. Now THAT was an education. You better do well advocating both opinions as well as possible, because if you favored one, and left out something on another, your grade suffered.

school degree --- they're the thinkers of the world. Not the folks who received further education.

Oh yeah, this is totally accurate. Liberal university indoctrination centers are making a mess of things.

Example of garbage in, garbage out:

I never understand this stuff...

I was in public education from 1st grade through college. I never once remember thinking that anyone was trying to tell me what to think.

I think people take extreme examples that they hear about, which of course, get put all over the news, and think that everyone's like that extreme case.
