To the naysayers who are lurking and not posting today...

you should know that we beat a really good Furman team Saturday. They are considered by some to be the best mid-major team in the country this year. They returned 16 of 22 starters off of last year's team, which came in fifth in the SoCon, beat #21 VMI, and gave #14 East Tennessee State all they could handle. They also have the returning two-time All-America tight end Ryan Miller and cornerback Travis Blackshear, an All-SoCon pick last fall.
We didn't play perfectly, but a few things stand out:
1. We forced 2 turnovers.
2. We converted 22 first downs.
3. Our team outscored them 2.92 points to 1.
4. DJ was 21-27 for 231 yards.
5. Shipley averaged 6.8 yards per carry.
6. We scored 28 points in the first half.
What is probably most encouraging, as many mentioned earlier today, our starting QB had probably his best game in two years, with 2 TDs, only turning the ball over once.
We obviously have some things to improve upon, but Saturday's win was a very good one against a very solid Colgate team, err... Furman team.

Our program is a developmental model overall, and that includes our typical seasons. We will get better as a team, and that includes the running game. I'm willing to bet on it.

The number 1 LB Sammy’s dad played at Furman, sometimes you have to take it easy on a team to land the number 1 LB in the country & still get the win.
The coots been trying this for years but they forget to win every time, ask the Citadel!
Let’s go Beat the poo poo out of Louisiana Tech unless we have a number 1 recruit on the hoooook!

Our Qb took the blame for the interception and that was big of him but watch the replay. It wasn't on him. Spector slowed down. He put the ball where he should of been had he not slowed down.

I've taken Travis Blackshear out on my boat -- a middle school friend of my son and a fine young man -- but not much with a fishing pole. That said, I know Dabo had some critical words on our Defense. I will have a talk with him or send him a fax if he's too busy to get together.
