To lighten the mood...what is a drink you can't touch/smell

Dec 8, 2021, 10:48 AM

anymore because of a bad experience with it?

Mine is tequila. I can't even smell it or my stomach turns. Haven't touched it in over 15 years.

2024 free_orange level membermilitary_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I can tell you exactly what.

Dec 8, 2021, 10:51 AM

Fill an empty 2 liter bottle with equal parts wild turkey, coors original, orange juice, sprite vodka, jim beam, coke, and rum then drink it.

Puked off the back of a pontoon one night after drinking it when I was like 14.

I'VE NEVER TOUCHED THAT DRINK SINCE!

I've graduated, and finally figured out that I can't drink liquor the same way I do Natty light.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

vodka. Haven't touched it since freshman year at Clemson

Dec 8, 2021, 11:02 AM

one bad - really bad - night ended that relationship. I'm glad vodka has almost no smell because I think if I ever just caught a whiff, it would make me reflexively curl up in a fetal position.

That's really the only alcohol I will not drink.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I have thrown up exactly twice in my life from alcohol

Dec 8, 2021, 11:02 AM

As such, there are none I won't touch. Downside to that is I SHOULD throw up easier and more often, as that would save a lot of bad decisions.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-tiggity-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Not likely in the spirit of the question, but

Dec 8, 2021, 11:03 AM

it's the closest I've got. I've never drunk coffee, but every time I've ever tried to drink hot chocolate (which I do like the flavor of, of course), I've burned the fool out of my mouth. So I just don't drink hot drinks any more. Ice 'em.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm not a hot drink person either

Dec 8, 2021, 11:07 AM

the thought of frostbite has to seriously cross my mind before I would consider drinking a cup of hot chocolate.

Coffee? I'd much rather lose a couple of my extremities than drink that horrific substance.

Just for fun, here's a list of what I don't drink:

Dec 8, 2021, 11:11 AM [ in reply to Not likely in the spirit of the question, but ]

Anything with alcohol
Anything hot
Anything with caffeine
Anything with coffee remotely in it
Anything diet or with artificial sweetener
Any Tea (may be covered under the caffeine category)
Root beers, cream sodas, or others in those genres

So we're talking
1. water, most common
2. sports drinks like Gatorade, 2nd most common
3. Sprite/ginger ale/the occasional orange soda, normally when at fast food or social functions
4. Milk and most breakfast juices

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Purely, 100% out of curiosity,

Dec 8, 2021, 11:17 AM

how many of those are due to biblical conflicts?

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-20yr.jpgringofhonor-obed.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Only the first.

Dec 8, 2021, 11:19 AM

Though I'd like to think, from what I've seen, read, and experienced, I'd still make the decision, if the Biblical element weren't there.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Kinda similar deal with caffeine, now that I think of it.

Dec 8, 2021, 11:27 AM [ in reply to Not likely in the spirit of the question, but ]

I used to drink a Mountain Dew every day. One day it became obvious to me that I got a headache if I didn't drink one by the middle of the day. I didn't like that control element it had on me, so one day I completely stopped drinking caffeine and haven't had any in about four years, I think.

A very young FastChad went to a party with a friend and drank a lot of beer. Late in the evening, a bottle of 100 proof Ouzo made an appearance. In short order, my friend and I drank most of the bottle. Soon afterwards, we learned what 100 proof liquor could do to someone.

FastChad’s last hazy recollection was making out with a very large girl from the country, rushing to bathroom to throw up and immediately resume making out upon my return. I can only imagine what that must have been like for the girl.

Next thing I know, I wake up sitting sideways in a recliner looking out over a lake which happened to be 100+ miles from where my evening started. The kicker was that I had an uncooked hotdog in my hand. I did what seemed like the reasonable thing to do which was to burry the hotdog in a potted plant next to the recliner.

I found my friend and we hopped in a car to drive home. He ended up finding a hotdog in his pocket soon after we started the drive. I met the host of the party many months later and the ### hole had me convinced that the big girl was preggo. He let me sweat that one out the entire night before telling me it was a joke.

Not only have I never had Ouzo since, but I don’t like Greek people in general as a result.
