I am sorry to disagree with you on this but my granny, born, raised, lived and died in Louisianna would take you to the wood shed on that--- a pea can was what was placed und er the bed at night so you did not have to go to the outhouse when it was cold outside. ??

I don't see an "o" in pecan but some people pronounce it "pecon".

My family always said “PEE-cahn” - harvested and shelled tons of em every year at my grandmother’s house in central NC.
Saying “puh-CAHN” is akin to the Fig Newton commercial guy saying “NYOO-tun” trying to be uppity.
Ryan Day is a true tool.

You’re probably one of those that are surprised to learn that her majesty the Queen uses the contraction “ain’t”. I understand disliking poor grammar and sentence structure but to dislike the familiar sound of ones homeland can only mean that you despise the conditions of your youth.

My family has lived in SC for over 300 years. Most were poor sharecroppers in Chesterfield and Darlington Counties. I feel no shame at all telling others that. In fact, its quite the opposite. They were hard working good honest Christian people (for the most part). I'm proud of my families past because they all played some part in helping me become who I am today.
Merry Christmas
