Yep. Then, as far as the names on the Top 10 list that don't belong, I would say David Shaw and then James Franklin.

Yep, Kirby Dumba$$ has more talent than even Saban, and he finally wins Natty, and all the sporting news outlets, and UGA administration praise him, and it was probably after the the first week after Dabo won two national champions within a two year stretch. They have said more about Dabo after one bad season in 10 years bc his team was hammered with injuries on both sides of the ball, and now they have plenty say about how Dabo, and Clemson has fell out of the top of college FB, and the good times are over for both Dabo and Clemson.

They have refused to say that even though Dabo has had the worst season he has had at Clemson bc of injuries, He still manages to win 10 games in one of the worst years he and Clemson has had since he became a first time ever HC without ever being a coordinator at any level. Now that is news worthy of being reported, yet they use his worst 10 win season to say how Dabo, and Clemson are finished as being a consistent top 5 team and HC!!!

Dabo, and Clemson will return to the top of college FB, and all of the sporting news outlets will again refuse to give Dabo the praises he deserves for doing more with less than the team Kirby Dumba$$ stands on the side lines with, a team that has so much bought talent, they should be able to win a NC with Kirby being anywhere other than standing on the side lines with one of the most talented teams in college FB!!!

Being jealous is not some either a parent or a coach would allow so you are certainly neither. Lucky for the kids.

Kirby is being praised for finally getting UGA back to a national championship level. The administration has rewarded that. No one is predicting UGA even wins the SEC this season. As for Dabo and Clemson, they have received their share of well deserved praise. Clemson was among the favorites to win it all last season and they didn't even win their division. Like it or not that's gonna come with some criticism.

Like it or not recruiting is part of being a head coach at the college level. Smart is not a great on the field coach but he has a national championship, as well as another appearance. Jim Franklin is the one I question. He has to be the top paid coach sitting on a hot seat.

They are just adding fuel to the fire that will propel the team and coaches to greater success.

UGa way overpaid Kirby. He is at his alma mater.

Jul 23, 2022, 1:30 PM

Where else would he possibly go? There’s no reason to pay him so much. He would work at UGA for much less.

Honestly Dabo as well. No reason to over pay. The only place Dabo would go is Bama and Bama job is not open. And it’s not like Dabo is itching to go to Bama.

I’m not saying these coaches aren’t worth the money. But I am saying that they’re not gonna leave if you pay them 7 million instead of 10 million.

That's probably what Oklahoma thought when they were paying Lincoln Riley 7.5mil... Where would he go?

Jul 23, 2022, 4:57 PM

are seriously WAAAAAY overpaid. None have a Ship, and only 1 has played for a Ship & that was after being let in by their conference & only playing 6 reg season games. Dabo, Kirby not-so Smart & Dumbo Fisher should be behind Saban, in that order just because they have won one (or 2 in Dabos instance). Kirby is probably one of the best recruiters in CFB (whether he is doing legally or not is tbd) but he was kinda gifted that win last season since Bama was at 60% health & they were a pick 6 away from losing to Clemson. Just my 2 pennies

We are the smallest of the schools mentioned so it is a credit to our athletic department for making it possible for Dabo to be on the list.

All overpaid!! But Dabo deserves to be in top 5

Jul 23, 2022, 9:50 PM

I cant believe what this sport is doing and it now seems to be more about dollars and less about "student athletes", unfortunately!

I remember when multi-million dollar contracts were not heard of. I remember when a coach hit $3mil, then $4mil, now we are talking $10mil to be in top 10 basically. Jeeze, it's not going to stop. NFL coaches are going to come back to college before long.

Out of control, IMO….but then so is CEO pay across the board and college coaches are CEOs to a large extent.

At what point does a fellow just feel like he has “enough”?

Jul 24, 2022, 9:39 AM

It has been said that “relative pay”is much more important than “actual pay” ... in other words, what you’re getting is just fine until you discover someone else is getting more.

It’s got to become a pure ego issue at some point after everyone is getting so much money they could never spend it all.

There is indeed a clause to review and adjust Swinney's salary to the top-3 in per year salary within 120 days after the start of the 2022 season's Playoff, but there is also a provision that says they could adjust the contract at any point prior if the parties involved want to do so.

Jul 25, 2022, 8:31 AM

Kind of funny that a guy like Kirby who really has had outstanding talent from day 1 finally is successful, and suddenly he is worth all that money. With him, it kind of goes back to the saying, "never has anyone done so little with so much so often". Really, congrats to him and to their team. They did what they had to do in a year chocked full of enormous challenges, and even though they got the favored break of staying in the top 4 after losing, they did what they had to do. Wonder how they will do in the future? Dynasty, or back to 2nd or 3rd place in their conference?

This works like NFL QBs.

Jul 25, 2022, 8:37 AM

It's not who's best, it's who's next. Whenever Dabo gets his next extension he will be right back up at or near the very top.

Re: This works like NFL QBs.

Jul 30, 2022, 10:57 PM

But WHY should he be back among the "top paid coaches"?

Dabo is NOT about $$. He has made more than all his children can spend and probably as much as he can give away to legitimate causes and STILL live like a King.

I actually will be disappointed if the next step is upping Dabo.
He makes more than enough.
Does he deserve more?

What or how do you define 'deserve'?

He's a Servant Leader. He's fixed for life.
He's the Best Coach for Clemson ever (loving all the others).

I really hope he doesn't jump on that 'train' of 'keeping up with the Joneses'.

He may deserve more. Actually he does.

He doesn't need more.

Go Tigers!

He will have what the board wants him to have, a fair pay in comparison to others considering job performance.

Dabo will give a chunk to those in need and he will continue to reap a bigger harvest, sowing seed with a cheerful heart, Dabo is really a mold that could never be replaced with someone comparable.
