TNet Weight Loss Challenge check-in

Been a crazy week here - after a humid day outside and getting dehydrated to the point that I actually weighed in early in the week at a level reaching my goal of 15 pounds. I was below 185 on Monday but went back to a full day at work on Wednesday where food was provided at breakfast and lunch. And then , 2 days of rainy weather so very little work outside and more gain. By last night, I was up slightly from last week at 188.8.... what will this week bring with 2 days at the desk job? I knew the last 5 pounds would be the most difficult, but still a month to go.

Agree on those last few pounds being difficult. I am at 128.9 this morning. Still trending back in the correct direction but, was hoping for more. I have 3.9 left to go.

I finally got back on track with a 3 lb pound loss. I have 22 lbs to go. Vacation wrecked my plans.

Do any of you weight lift?

I always go on a massive purge during the summer before school starts. I gained weight at the beginning of my serious workout, eating right and doing a cardio routine. All this happens as my waist size decreases. It's the weirdest thing, and then about 5 weeks after I started, the weight really started coming off.

This year, I am going to do what I did a few years ago: workout before school at about 5 am. I am moving back to the states and excited about taking advantage of Planet Fitness hours.

I highly recommend the early rising and workout routine before work. You'll never feel better in your life!

I started off lifting weights with high protein, high frequency meal plan at the beginning of the year when I weighed 214. Saw the same effect at 1st because of added muscle weight outpacing lost fat until higher metabolism rate kicked in and aided my weight loss.
Recently did a 6 day water-only fast followed by intermittent fasting 14/10 which has resulted in a small plateau.
Now I'm ready to go back to original Ab Diet and weightlifting plan and want to try the early morning workouts like you suggest to shake up my routine again. I think shocking the body by switching approaches has helped me so far and maybe this will get me a fresh start to eliminate the last of my stubborn gut.

Darn we are about the same weight. I am not tall either , about 5 11. I was on the beer diet but other than that eating well. I tend to build muscle pretty fast.

The big benefit to the early morning routine is you tend to go to bed earlier too. I believe the sleeping sweet spot is between 8 and 9.

There was a pretty famous doctor on TikTok (yeah I know) downplaying the health benefits of fasting. Who knows, right? You recommend it?

I've always been a night owl so it'll take some discipline to get to bed sooner. The benefits of the added rest and early workouts should make it worthwhile though.

I did a lot of research on waterfasting before starting and found the article I'm linking among many others very helpful. Take time to read the comments as well, lots of good encouragement and wise advice as well as alternatives to water-only.

I cruised through the 6 days and could have gone longer but had achieved the results and resets I set out to get. The author is straight forward about people with certain conditions checking with their doctor and monitoring for any adversity. I hope you find this article helpful, as I did, and hope you feel as good about it as I do if you decide to give it a try.

Just remember you're not locked into any certain length of time and when you start and stop is at your own discretion.

I will weigh on Sunday morning and check in. Just got back from a week long conference and they fed us well. Not optimistic.

When much younger, I heard the older you get, the easier it was to gain weight and much harder to take it off. Unfortunately, that was too true. When you started this Clover, I weighed 242. I weighed in this morn at 221. My goal is less than 200. No rigorous exercise, just cut out the junk and have eaten more fruit and veggies. Good luck to everyone trying !!!

Just stepped off the scale at 179, one pound under my target 180.
Trying to make a new push to get down to 170 and I know this will be even harder to get these other 9 lbs off, but it won't happen if I don't try.

Making this my new motto: 'BYOG'

Mixed week - bad and good.
Bad: Similar to you Clover, the weather kept me from my usual outside "in the heat" activities and I gained 2 pounds early in the week. Also gave in to some food cravings which is probably the main culprit.
Good: later in the week was able to lose those 2 bound, but the net for the week was zero. Still 175 with a "new" goal to get below 170.

of these diabetic shots, etc, really will result in weight loss. I weighed on one doctor's scale a couple of weeks ago, weighed 305. Two weeks later, after getting off Ozempic because it was making me feel so crappy, and getting back on a higher dose of Trulicity when a dose pack FINALLY became available at my pharmacy, down to 287 the last couple of days. Literally just do not feel like eating.

All that would be great if not for the fact that the reason I DON"T feel like eating is a queasy stomach, all the time. Can't believe people actually take these drugs just to lose weight, instead of having to take them because of diabetes.

:(

Goal is 177 at a minimum, 175 ideally.

Started at just under 187.

208. The same as last week, at least I think that’s what I weighed last Saturday. Still 8 more to go.

Friday evening, was 193.4. Last week 195.6. Was able to mow Wednesday evening between rain
events and then get to the driving range prior to weighing Friday which helped. Few minutes ago 194.4 after celebrating two birthdays with two cakes. Will have slices of both the next three or four days to consume so will see if I can offset the impact. Have little ability to resist birthday cake.

Yesterday morning I was right back where I started at 179. Spent the last week eating at restaurants or the hospital cafeteria and that is never good for weight control. Probably more of the same this week as we are flying out with my wife’s mother and stepfather this morning to Arkansas to visit my wife’s brother. Hopefully just restaurants and not hospital cafeterias at least.

Walk the stairs. Easiest way to stay in shape at a desk job.

Instead of 10 - 15 minutes of "water cooler talks" or posting on T-net...walk your building from bottom to top.
