I absolutely see what Dabo is saying about the transfer portal being over loaded with pretty good players shooting for a better NIL deal, and getting left out of a place to play college FB, or at a place where their talent has to be placed At a FBS school and being the best player on the team bc he has the talent that would have gotten better at a D-1 school, but a D-1 coach don't want to take a chance on them bc they have been in the portal a couple of times already, and now they are left out.
And I see that with so many decent players in the portal, only high 4 star and 5 star kids are being offered scholarships out of HS bc coaches can pick the better 3 star, and low 4 star kids out of the portal that they have already seen playing at the college level, and they are a lower risk 3 star, low 4 star player out of the portal bc coaches have already seen them after they have been through some college development, and they know what kind of college player they will turn out to be, if that makes sense to anyone. Just saying if I was a college coach, I would rather have a kid that has already went through some college development than a raw HS recruit that hasn't seen a day of college development is what I'm trying to get around to saying. And it's causing a lot of HS players without a D-1 offer bc college coaches can get them out of the portal that has already been in college development!!!!

So you would rather have a guy that went to a school and failed? Was not good enough to start at another place?
Someone who does not commit to the team but only themselves? You think that’s better than a high school guy?
Really?
And yes that is 90% or more of the portal.

grades etc.. and try build team. I wouldn't want the transfer drama except in rare instances. I think Dabo has got this right. We will still get our share of high "star" recruits as well.
I think Dabo has Clemson marketed like a "luxury brand". Hard to get an offer out of Clemson, makes the offer more valuable.

when the RB room was full of better overall players but he kept grinding and being positive.
Oh, I never knew Dabo wanted to coach at UAB. Guess it having the Alabama word in its name was close to the scriptt “A” of Bama!
