Hate to see anymore lose their job BUT it's time to make changes and basketball should take notice. Brownell you are on the clock now. I'm glad to see that Graham is not sitting back. David Miller for baseball coach.

the Clemson athletic director's office. I don't care where he went to school. Even if he played football for GT, which he did not, the helmet should not be there. And if you are going to have it there, at least remove it when you are issuing a statement that will go out to the public.

That's rational..... I mean a man shouldn't be proud of his degree and the place he got his start. Most fan sites should have an IQ test and a permission section for parents of children like you guys. This is real world and Neff's job, he doesn't live in fanboy world he's an actual grown up. Maybe one day you guys will know how it feels to grow up. Doubt it but just maybe. Seriously though, c'mon guys your losing the forest thru the trees. There is only one helmet no matter the circumstances that you can never see any where at Clemson other than under the cleat of a Tiger in THE Death Valley and that is a yardbird helmet.

That’s what a diploma on the wall is for. Not a football helmet.

Exactly it doesn’t bother me one bit about the helmet. Just keep on doing a good job for Clemson that’s all that really matters

Based on the way GN spoke on investing in the program and viewing it as a top 15 job I believe candidates will be big time current head coaches. Who gets hired will tell us everything we need to know about whether GN is telling the truth about his expectations for the program.

different matter. Clemson is a good job, but not a great job.
We’ll see if he can convince a guy who is doing really good where he is that coming and accepting the current Clemson challenge is the right move.
It will take a masterful sales job. How good a salesman is Neff?

Might not be that tough my friend. Clemson IS Clemson. No one else can make that claim!

... Clemson IS Clemson?
What does that even mean?
Clemson baseball is in the doldrums. We haven’t been particularly good for a while now.
We’ve only hired three baseball coaches in the past 60+ years ... Bill Wilhelm, Jack Leggett, and Monte Lee.
What in that scenario suggests that Neff can simply say “Clemson is Clemson” and lure a great coach away from another good job?
I’d love to know ... seriously.

I assumed he meant that feeling you get, or I hope you got, when you set foot on the Clemson campus and it just feels like home. Clemson sold itself to me just by being Clemson. Dabo knows how valuable it is to get recruits to visit and I assume it can do the same with coaches and coaches families. Unless you don’t ever get that feeling about Clemson, then it must seem like a bunch of nonsense, apparently.

Well, I lived in Clemson for over 40 years and I graduated from Clemson and I worked for Clemson for over 15 years.
I fully understand the mystical feeling you describe ... probably better than you do yourself.
But I doubt it applies in the case of finding a replacement for Monte Lee. Just saying “Clemson IS Clemson” is not going to cut it.
Most big-name successful coaches are going to need more than a warm fuzzy feeling to up and leave a good job in order to try to resurrect the Tiger program. It’s like recruiting great players from the portal. Dabo is a great salesman. He knows how to sell that Clemson “feeling” to new recruits straight out of high school, but so far he has not been able to sell it to any of the portal players he’s offered. Those guys are going to the program with the most immediate upside for them personally. Same with a successful coach leaving one job for another.
All I said was that Neff needs to be a great salesman to lure a really good baseball coach away from an established program. Is he a great salesman? Who knows? But we’re about to find out.

Everybody just hasn't had the chance to make it up to Clemson when our Baseball, and Football programs are doing well, and that feeling of pride you have with other Tiger fans while walking around and tailgating on game day.
I have been to hundreds of special events in my life time as a fan, like the Daytona 500, Darlington 500 back in the day when that was a race to win bc that track was a monster that would reach out and get you. When I lived in Phoenix, I went to a good many Sun's games. I did a lot of things in my lifetime that I was a fan of, and I could/would swear on a truck load of Bibles that everything, and everywhere that I have been as fan of during my entire life, nothing has excited me more than driving into Clemson headed to a tailgating spot, and walking around being part of the tailgating before a Clemson FB game, and entering Death Valley before the kickoff with the hair raised on my arms, and this was before our Clemson FB became a top 5 team 5-6 years in row bc, I haven't been able to make that trip for awhile. Believe what you want to, but there is something special in the hills that surround Clemson, and Clemson sports.
I have never been a person that was easy to excite, but I've always been excited driving on campus at Clemson for a sporting event!!!!

being asked to Neff, here is a pretty good read on all of that. I post this only bc I'm sure some of you are like myself when it comes to actually hear all of the questions being asked. I hope that you enjoy the read, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Like a lot of Clemson fans, I was with the living that has had the opportunity to live through the days of some really good Clemson baseball, and the ones that come into being a Tiger hopeful for our baseball program, I can tell you that I have personally, along with many of the Clemson fateful, have seen the days that when power college baseball was talked about around the country, Clemson baseball was in those conversations as a strong TOP 10, if not a Top 5 team in all those types of talks around the country. So YES,
I believe it was time for a change within the coaching. If and when a HC can't, of just refuses to make the necessary changes in their stay that could better the team, and the program as whole, it's time to make a change with the HC. And the ones that say, well I really liked Monte, and I think he is a good HC, well I was there with you until, we were at a point of praying for wins against teams that usually no problem for our team, we could have just checked that box with wins before the games were ever played, and the best teams that I've witnessed just walk into the super regionals expecting to pack up heading to Omaha. Monte will learn from his time at Clemson, and he will become a better HC bc right now, he will have to cut ties with close friends bc they will have to seek other jobs, and Monte will have the chance hopefully, to put together a better coaching staff than he had at Clemson, and this could be the break that Monte needed to make him a better HC....
