Tigers drop opener to Blue Devils

CLEMSON, S.C. – Jack Carey pitched 7.0 strong innings and Chris Crabtree hit two home runs in Duke’s 5-1 victory over Clemson in the series opener at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Thursday night. 57 and 64 and 3. Interesting numbers

1957 we were 6-12
1964 we were 13-13

57 years since we've had a .500 record in regular season baseball.

64 years since we've had a losing regular season in baseball.

We've had 3 losing conferences records since joining the ACC '64 , '72 , 2008

We must win the next two to avoid updates to these records. We need to win the next two.

That many years of having a winning record and now the possibility that it could be coming to an end here real soon,not good to think about it happening not good at all

Nah, it isn't. I don't think they will hit Askew. Maybe a cheap solo dinger or something. So feel pretty good about tomorrow. Sunday? Somebody said Clarke can pitch. But so can Sharpe. So hopefully plenty of Arms to pitch by committee Sunday.

I know they're still ranked or highly regarded by the pollsters but honestly, our sweep of Louisville doesn't look near as impressive as it once did and neither does our series win over va tech. FSU not nearly as impressive as once thought either. NC State getting a lot of love because of few losses but they played a much reduced schedule.

Duke, even though d1 and baseball America hasn't given them any respect, imo still has a good chance of going to a regional even with a losing acc record. Their non conference schedule strength is #1 in the country and they have an impressive 10-2 record n/c.

Ghesh, I knew it was bad... Just not THAT bad. 10 k's a game average. Ouch. And a ton are backward k's.

On the bright side, Teo is flat out making him some money this year. Was listening on radio and they were talking about he'll get drafted high and they'll teach him to hit... Radio said afterall, they are student atheletes and can't practice 24/7 so to speak.

All this and we still have a chance. Go softball at 3!!!!
