Everyone that has anything to do with selecting players for the NFL will hate themselves for a very long time for completely passing on Justyn when they could have had him from the 1st round to the 7th round, and they ignore that they could have had him with the biggest steal in the NFL. Justyn will set records with a QB like Mahomes, and I can't believe that Trevor didn't beg the Jag heads to take a chance on Justyn, and if he did beg them to take, they are going to regret that they didn't.
I understand that nobody wanted to draft Justyn from the 1st to the 4th round bc of his stats last season, but that wasn't all on Justyn, it was mostly on TE, and DJ, and they will soon learn that costly mistake!!!
With the surgery, being out for a season, I can see why Justyn didn't get drafted before the 4th round, but I don't understand them totally ignoring him. Somebody FB smart should have saw, or known the biggest reason that Justyn didn't put up the same numbers he had his first two seasons, was mainly bc of the OC play calling, and the play calling was mainly bc the OC didn't trust his QB. A 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th round pick for Justyn would have been a huge steal, and those NFL know it all's was to blind, or to stupid to see it right in their faces... MY, My, the teams that have to play the Chiefs will soon enough learn how stupidly blind they were, and I honestly believe that!!!!
no NFL team drafting him given the health issues he went through although none were his fault. It's the breaks of the game and the NFL is pure business. Too bad his last year in college was a bust given the unbelievable out of sync offense Clemson endured, some self inflicted and the majority with numerous injuries. With only 2 Tigers getting drafted hope this doesn't plant a seed in recruiting but no doubt other teams will bring this to their attention if they are in competition for the same recruits. Anyway now that Ross has a chance as well as other undrafted free agents it's time to show you belong or not. Hope they all do well.
I could see him making their practice squad. Take it slow and see how he improves. A small investment in a great young man. It’s not like they’re holding a spot for someone with character/legal problems. High potential to get a steal on a talented acrobatic receiver in a couple years.
J.Ross doesn't need to set the world on fire in 2022.
He just needs to stay healthy and keep his FB skills sharp while on the practice squad in 2022.
If he can stay on practice squad all year and keep doing what he'd always done while at Clemson (work work work), then he'll get back into full (non-injured type) shape, keep his pass catching / route running skills sharp, and then hopefully will be super set for being a high quality possession receiver for the KC Chiefs in 2023.
Realistic is good. No one will give a shizz about his draft status in a few years if he gets health and has some luck. (No worries about J.Ross keeping his head on straight, from all the good things that I've read about him.)
QB play hurt him. No doubt. It he had a "normal" Justyn Ross year, more than 5 NFL teams would easily looked past the injury stuff. Add the foot injury that led to really bad pro day stats, and that was what did it. Sucks.
A super bowl contender every year and playing with Mahomes is a fantastic opportunity for any receiver. I really like Mahomes a lot and think because he is so good it will really give Ross a chance to shine and show what he can do. Really happy for him!
He had one good season. His second one was taken away due to a spinal. The third one was an "injury" though seemed (to me) that he leaned more towards the idea that "DJ sucks and I don't want to get hurt or kill my previous stats on some azzhole that can't throw a ball"
So - all in all - he had one good season, 3 years ago, and hasn't really produced since.
His Freshman year was incredible. He struggled this year and it was a combination of things. Bad QB, didn’t seem to get open and if honest was not “all in”. That said I feel he is capable of making a team. But he has to keep his eye on the prize. Maybe not being drafted will be the kick in the pants to light that fire. Hope he is successful
Best team he could have signed with after Sammy Watkins and Hill have gone elsewhere. As a Phila native I know first hand that after experiencing Andy Read here for thirteen years he has always been one who will give every player on his preseason 90 man roster every chance to succeed. Justyn will get the best opportunity there from Andy from which to establish himself early - and having Patrick Mahomes as his QB will be outstanding. Now I have another team to follow next season and see Justyn truly blossom there!
