Four Tigers in top-20 most marketable players in college football

OpenDorse released its list of the top-25 most marketable college football players and four Tigers made the top-17 of it. OpenDorse tracks such things as they are a third-party outlet that facilitates deals for college athletes in the new Name/Image/Likeness era of the NCAA. Leading the way among Ti Read Update »

Shedeur Sanders? Surprising. Exactly what it all means? For the most part, looks like the usual suspects.

No USC (real one), Michigan, Notre Dame, Florida, FSU, Miami, Arizona State? Would expect schools with huge enrollments and alumnae to be included.

It's eyeballs, or each players number of Followers. It's actually pretty logical. Have a new product? Are you going to pay someone to promote your product who has 5,000 Followers or one with 200,000?

There’s no logic to that list. It is ridiculous.

Until we have seen this play out for a few years and get a better idea of how the metrics are going to work there is no way you cannot have the biggest name players at the top programs, especially east of the Mississippi, as the top players on this list.

Who will actually buy things because a college kid endorses a product?
Not me? But, they will pay them well…..

A non-issue, but they should have the kid pay back his/her scholarship.

I don't eat subs or pizza cause brady

Or manning is on tv either. It's just a tax write off and these kids make some dough! Just wish it was a tad more even but it'll sure up! Oh and I don't wear Micheal Jordan shoes either. Hopefully the guys get some food, a ride, some cash and connections out of it. We all know it'll turn into booster making 3am local commercials for their "side business" just to give recruits a mil for signing with allburn, ga, usc, bamer and the rest of the Miami's out there. It's all good!

I have a long supported player’s ability to earn money

That is not the same thing as being paid by the school as an employee. I never ever want to see that!

Scholarship athletes in many cases especially football players are not allowed to make money. Every other student can make money why can’t scholarship athletes?

This is very misunderstood.

Google the name Jeremy Bloom. He was a wide receiver at the University of Colorado but he was also one of the worlds best snow skiers and during the Olympics, like dozens of other Olympic athletes, he was offered endorsement deals but the NCAA stepped in and said if you take money from Chapstick or K2 ski equipment you’re going to lose your scholarship and we’re not gonna let you play football. It was totally ridiculous. He wasn’t getting those endorsement deals for being a wide receiver at Colorado. He was getting those endorsement deals because he was a high profile Olympic athlete. This was pretty big in the media back then. That was the last mail in the coffin for me and when I knew the NCAA had jumped the shark and become totally corrupt and did not care about students.
