who still can't see what's so great about D'Eriq King? He absolutely fell on his face against us, like REALLY bad, as a very experienced 5th year senior. I know we're good but not everyone plays that poorly against us. Sam Howell certainly didn't.
Meanwhile, in DJ's 2nd career start as a true freshman, he dunks all over ND, setting an opposing player passing yards record on one of the most storied franchises in CFB, dropping three total TDs and not turning the ball over, while sadly watching three of his playmakers fumble and his defense break under the extra pressure and injuries. His QBR of 89.2 was higher than Trevor's 87.9 when we dismantled ND in the rematch.
My point? The people who picked King over DJ are fools. We've seen King's ceiling, and we've seen how he handles pressure. This is his sixth year; no miracles are coming that haven't already. DJ outperformed him coming off the BENCH in the middle of the season, and as a sophomore, the sky's his limit. I have nothing against King, and I certainly hope he's fully recovered from his knee injury in the bowl game. But he's at best the 3rd-best QB in our conference.
