TNET Confessional Booth: I was nervous before last....

Nov 29, 2021, 12:00 AM

..night's game against the chickens; any other sinners out there care to share?

Based on previous games THIS season, I think it would've been crazier not to. One strange trip.

I'm feeling better about my sin, then.

Much better...

I didn't feel good about it either. Never would have dreamed a 30-0 rout.

I've been listening to, attending, and in these later years, watching TV games of Clemson football for nearly 70 years. Games nor opponents make a difference, and I'm still nervous before every game. I always make myself a promise that I'll be satisfied with 1 point win.

Those nervous feelings begin about midweek and stay with me through games until I'm certain we'll win. The strange thing is, except for Clemson football, few other things make me nervous.

I do have to say that last night's 30-0 coot whipping was special.

I don't think any game in the past 3 years has made me that happy. No where near the best team we've played against in that time period. Just felt like the team has evolved and playing more complementary.

I don't confess to a man, but directly to God himself. There was absolutely nothing to confess about after that game.

I was worried until seeing the team do what they were supposed to do at DV vs UConn and then what they had to do against WF* the next week I then knew the Coots wouldn't be a problem. Coots could only wish they were as good as WF. Auburn had me concerned by their early stand against Bama but they eventually showed how the Coots beat them.

* I believe that will be the best WF team we'll ever meet in the rest of my lifetime.

You may be right about Wake, as they do have

their flash-in-the-pan years on occasion, seemingly built on air raid attacks.

Wake just never has had the wherewithal to sustain a highly successful program over the years. Regardless, I like the school, and they've generally been friendly with Clemson for a long time.
