I think Clemson has been stung more often than it's been helped with preseason polls. But, this is a good indicator of the respect Dabo and the Clemson program have earned.
I think anyone that saw the Georgia game and Clemson's remaining games know - "it wasn't a typical Clemson offense" all of last year. Let alone against the eventual NC. Nobody expects that trend to continue.
Good show; now it's about going out and playing up to it.
I think we will.

I think we will be better this season bc Dabo has a choice about not watching DJ play the way that he did last year, he has a couple of choices that he didn't have last season!!!

The facts would show otherwise. We have not been bitten by preseason rankings.... the article clearly said we were the only team from '16-'20 to start AND finish inside the top ten.

I'm going out on a limb and say that Clemson, Bama, and UGA I think should have the best chance of finishing regular season in the top 5, But OSU or ND will not finish in the top 5. ND plays O CryO, and us, And OcryO will play ND and Michigan. One of those two teams will not finish the top 5.
But, if DJ hasn't made big improvement from last season, and Dabo hesitates to pull him, we could easily finish out of the top 10 again this season. I believe that Dabo will ###### DJ out the first sign of last season DJ, he saw enough of that DJ last season in all of our games...
What do you think?

I get that you love to hate DJU, I think we all get that, but I'm just saying be prepared for Clemson's 5-star, unanimously-rated #1 pocket passer in his class to actually be exceptional (again) & play near his talent ceiling (again) while leading Clemson to exceptional heights instead of always and only jumping to the closest-possible path to Clemson's starting QB to fail.
Seriously, what IF Clemson's starting QB is outright elite (again)? Feels like that's the one "if" that keeps getting overlooked in spite of the situation rather than because of it, know what I mean?
Anyway, that's what I think, too, to answer your question. It benefits Cade long-term as well, and short term outright.

To be fair, he wasn’t unanimous—meaning all
the services had him rated as the number one pocket passer. ESPN had him rated like 50th overall and 3 or 4th best pocket passer.

I see, & I accept your scorn.
For all the hate ESPN gets here as well, perhaps all the other #1-ratings for DJU from every other outlet should compel even the most cynical fans to think there may be a chance Clemson's starting QB is actually & legitimately competitive (again).
Again, just my thoughts per the question, but thanks again for the ESPN info.

Why would Dabo hesitate to pull him, that is a dumb statement! Dabo is going to put the best QB on the team out there. Did he have a problem pulling Bryant and putting in TL#16, NO?
What does he lose if he pulls DJU, nothing because he's gone either way next year, so there's no need to worry about him leaving for the portal.
Now, that being said, I hope he doesn't have to pull him, for several reasons. If he doesn't pull DJ, he's playing great. If he doesn't have to pull DJ, then Cade can work himself into the position at a slower pace. The better solution is that DJU plays great and Dabo has to pull him because Cade is playing so much better. It's a win, win for Dabo, and if any player needs pulling, he definitely has the guts to do it.
