3rd down D has been atrocious. Maybe they’re just tired from all the injuries and our pre-punt team not holding the ball long. But still nowhere near past year’s defenses.

Hurt, depth, snapcount. Pitt had it for 36+ minutes. Just adds up. Still, with all that they only gave up 20 points. Throw in the fact that some stuck around for rings (imo). The big prize went off the table with the NC st game. All of it takes its toll.
I'd let Tyler D rest now and get completely healed. I'd also lessen the snaps for Skalski and Turner. I'd play everyone I could on both sides of the ball that you know will be back next year.

Had Clemson not spotted Pitt 7 points and Shipley makes a catch we would probably be talking about about a way different situation with NC state losing to Miami yesterday. You spot Georgia a touchdown. That is three plays right there on the year that if they didn't happen things would be totally different right now.

This is likely the biggest factor. That’s why I’ve started referring to them as pre punt team. Offense is too generous.

I hope you mean past years under Coach V. We were never solid until Coach V came along. I've been disappointed for sure. But since football is a game of inches, the number of Defensive injuries has hurt us.

We are injured tired and worn down physically and mentally. It has taken toll - I can live the failure to stop them (they made plays that we used to make) but what hurts more is the total loss of composure and making absolutely stupid plays AFTER we had them stopped - one cost us 7 and the other a chance to get the ball back with plenty of time left to do something. This lack of character and awareness is not how we play and we can't devolve into that as the years slowly drags to a close. And number 3 was the blown coverage or whatever it was (I can't believe BV planned it that way) to let them score at the end of the half on 4th and 5. At his point, I agree with the notion to give younger guys all the snaps we can.
