Underdog Tigers facing a complete team in Pitt
No. 24 Clemson has struggled to beat even lesser opponents this season, and the opposition gets better this week when they take on a Pitt team that head coach Dabo Swinney says is the most complete team the Tigers have played since Georgia. Full Story » |

This is a big boy game in the trenches and I have a good feeling. I hope it's not gas.

Run the ball. Move the chains. Keep Pitt offense off the field. Heep D rested.

We better have a balanced O or they will just load the line and we probably not do much overall. Expect 17 points max if we just focus on the run.

I predict a glorious victory

And then Clemson will be ranked in the AP Top 25
I think if we don't win the ACC, but win six games and become Bowl Eligible
Playing Coastal Carolina in a Bowl would be interesting

the story could have been Pitt is everything offensively that the Tiger are not. Not sure Pitt has played anyone with the type Defense the Tigers have but once again if the Tigers offense continue to beat our own defense it will be a long, long day.

They are a complete team, yet they lost to a MAC team. Got it.

I’m more worried about our D coverage over the middle of the field than anything. Our D is a beast up until 3rd down

Well if you listen to DJ he says he is still trying to get comfortable with the offense but we all know he played two great games last year he always studied the play book and films as we were told, so what gives? Coach Swinney took over a team in my opinion didn't have as much talent as what we have now. We are used to having records of 9 or 10 wins a year and a good Bowl game. The coaches need to at least give T.P. a chance and see if he can move the team better and maybe pit up more points.

Hello JoeTigerSC,
Good questions (especially about giving TP a chance). Unfortunately, this question has already been answered: The coaches have seen TP again and again and again (during practices and internal scrimmage games) and know that he isn't good enough (yet) to take over for DJ.
Why was DJ so effective in his long playing stints in the two games from 2020? He had T.Etienne to throw to (and to hand the ball off to) and had A.Rodgers and C.Powell (both of whom could CATCH THE BALL -and- RUN GOOD ROUTES) as go-to receivers. Oh yes, although the 2020 offensive line was not a hall-of-fame performer, last year's O-Line was a more cohesive and more experienced unit than what we've gotten in first 6 games of the 2021 season. Put it all together, and DJ is (metaphorically speaking) trying in 2021 to make chicken salad from chicken ... ah, er ... chicken feathers.
Looking forward to good play from the (as yet) under-performing OL and WR corps ... and if that happens then you'll see DJ take another step forward via a nice victory over Pitt.

You are correct about practices, but I'm not there however, I do know that TP out performed DJ in the spring game. The only way to know that TP is up to the challenge is to put him during a game and let DJ sit. I also know our previous OL started w/out any experience but seemed to do well. Just saying.
