Travis Etienne working in camp to become a complete back

Travis Etienne did a lot of things well last season but catching the ball out of the backfield and pass protection were two areas where he wanted to improve. To this point in fall camp, Etienne feels like he has taken his game to another level. Full Story »

Catching the ball out of the backfield will certainly move

him up NFL draft boards. But being a good blocker will help him secure a place on a team. Just ask Wayne Gallman. He has ALREADY banked over 1.2 million from the Giants, and is certainly just a backup to Saquon Barkley. Now, ETN has MUCH more ability than Wayne, but it shows just how important these "secondary" abilities in a running back are to pro teams. Clemson has had many backs with more sheer running ability than Gallman, but not many made pro teams.

Wayne Gallman is a very tough hard nose back that can block without fear, and he can get a couple needed yards with the strength of his legs that keep him upright, and he keeps his feet moving for those hard to get yards after he had been corralled. I always thought that Wayne was a good RB while at Clemson, but I wasn't sure if he had a career in the NFL bc it usually takes a special back like a Todd Gurley to have NFL staying power!!! Man, I sure wish we could have landed Gurley for our offense, and hopefully Demarkcus Bowmanl will have that kind of a career with us at Clemson, and stay healthy every minute of everyday that he is at Clemson!!! Go Gallman, and stand up and be counted in the NFL!!!
