I feel like Ngata has been "getting closer" and "almost there" for about 3 years now. He needs to be ready to go from start to finish this year.

Well, to be honest, this year if he isn't, someone I feel will be. If it's him, awesome. If it's Ajou or one of the Freshman that's cool too.

A little concerned that Dabo (like last year), is still talking about finding the “best 5” for Oline. We know how that looked for most of last season. I guess a dominant Oline is something that is too much to ask for.

"Best 5" means the O-line isn't very good and lacks depth

When this is the case, the obvious plan of action is to put the best 5 players on the field.

Best case scenario is O-line depth will develop during the season. However, for right now, there is no depth.

I expect Tristan Leigh to push his way into the two-deep. Unfortunately, he did not enroll early so he can't help much at the beginning.

They call these “controlled” scrimmages for a reason ...

Aug 20, 2021, 8:14 PM

The coaches set up situations designed to see how players and units will react to stressful situations. There is the tendency to build in a situational advantage/disadvantage for a player, players, or an entire unit.

The defense seemed to be beating up on the offense regularly early in fall camp, but as we see ... today, the offense sort of “bounced back” and looked good.

The O&W game and these lesser scrimmages are all “controlled” by the coaches and they in large measure dictate the outcomes.

Not a good idea to read anything into scrimmage results when trying to gauge how prepared we are for Georgia.

I have no qualms about Uiagalele’s readiness. But I wish Dabo would comment on the growth and maturity of the quarterback backups. Every opponent is going to really come after Uiagalele. At some point we are going to need a backup to perhaps save the day.
