Late bucket dooms Tigers in loss at Miami

Miami’s Zach Johnson hit a stepback bucket with 0.1 seconds remaining and the Hurricanes upset Clemson 65-64 in Miami Wednesday night, breaking Clemson’s four-game winning streak in the league and dealing a blow to the Tigers’ NCAA Tournament hopes. Photo by Steve Mitchell / USATODAY Full Story »

Not that it matters, but it wasn't a 3-pointer.

I know it was a lucky shot but we shouldn't be in that position at the end of the game against a team with a losing record.

Apparently y’all weren’t watching the game, unlike me.

That was a 2.

AND I WISH I WASN’T WATCHING CUZ THAT WAS COMPLETE GARBAGE!!!

He shot it from the free throw line clearly a 2. Not that it matters.

Get the headline right TNET - it wasn’t a 3-pointer!?!

What a heartbreaking loss! We played a terrible first half but a solid second. Hate to see them fight back hard and then lose!

It was a 2 and 0.4" left. We need 2 fire brownL like...

5 years ago, and promote terrance oglesby. Football's success is the only reason brownell's still at Clemson.

At work and missed game---Did anyone guard the last shot?

Feb 13, 2019, 9:33 PM

Per the usual, opponents typically get wide open shots versus our 'defense' and to make it worse, it's usually the guy everyone in the gym knows is going to take the last shot.

Mitchell was had a hand right in his face. The article's description is way off - it wasn't a stepback shot or a 3.

Yes - Shelton Mitchell was on him tight and had a hand up with a near block but it still went down. Grrrr.

Please make a move with Brownell. We just don't get any better with him. He is the Tommy Bowden of basketball. We deserve better!

Funny, I don’t remember you posting during our 4 game winning streak***

NIT Bound!!!!.....will be 15-11 and 5-8 in ACC this time next week...Brownell needs to go...in 9 years he has never taught discipline...he allows players to shot even if they are guarded by three defenders...Virginia doesnt have star players on their team but they play discipline basketball thats how they win...last night Trapp had 3 push off penalties that cost them points and he kept Trapp in the game...score was 8-4 Miami with 10 mins to go in the first half and Brownell could not figure out a way to get the team to score more points...pathetic...4 grad-5th year starters and went from Sweet 16 to going to NIT this year...

I agree, If Clemson is ever going to upgrade the basketball program, now is time. The Clemson national profile has never been higher than it is in 2019. I think we could land a top notch coach if D Rad gave a rip.

The same Virginia team that loss in the first round to a 16 seed?

Feb 14, 2019, 5:42 PM

In the same year we made the Sweet 16?

That Virginia team?

This is the kind of subpar basketball coverage I have come to expect

on TigerNet.

It was a 2, not a 3. And it wasn’t a step back shot.

Glad to see that you’re accurate on what a 2021 football recruit said after breakfast this morning though.

whoa... there goes one of my 4 expected wins in this

Feb 14, 2019, 1:05 PM

season ending stretch... I fully expected the win, despite being on the road...

we're leaving too many opportunities on the table to warrant an NCAA bid but let's not let this loss set the table for a loss against Louisville; use it to get the win!!

You're still here? Why?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link

Yes, our administration still throws an occasional crumb basketball’s way.

Feb 16, 2019, 9:45 AM

Even though those crumbs could’ve been spent on more important sports like women’s softball.
