Wow...this 2022 team was about as hard to figure
out as Chinese arithmetic. Hope Wes gained some
experiences that will help him improve as these new
players come in to fill the gaps. I actually think Venables
left Wes with a lot of wisdom..which really showed
out this year. Go Tigers!

I'm glad we won the ACC, but the expectations for our Defense this year was off the charts - top 2 Defense. One might say we underperformed. Hoping Wes gets those issues fixed. With 4 DL guys being drafted in 1st round, we should have been a lights out Defense this year.

We finished 4th in total defense in the ACC and 24th in the country, 4.98 yards per play and 331 yards per game. Not bad, but probably not what was expected.

All-in-all, not bad, though. Especially given all the injuries to Bresee, Davis, Simpson, and the defensive back 7.

Can’t underestimate the impact of XTs injury, him and KJ would’ve absolutely terrorized QBs. Imagine how much help KJ would’ve had (even though he had a great season) with XTs speed crashing down as well

I agree. Not having XT had an impact, along with all of Bresee's problems. The linebackers had some growing pains and the DB's grew up as the year progressed. I'm willing to give Wes a pass, this year, but I think expectations will be higher for him next year. I think he learned a lot this year.

I feel Goodwin progressed as the year played out. It wasnt pretty at first, but it did get better. The DL had some struggles, but the backs did them no favors early on. Its Wes's first year. We did acceptably except for a few games. I like how he adapted vs UNC, rushing 3 did nothing but give Maye time to pick us apart. Then he changed the plan and it made a big difference.
Now shut down UT!
