complete 180 after a hard to watch at times QB position. From decision making to being able to make every pass with velocity when needed, with touch when needed, to play with confidence and focus when needed. Let the competition begin then decisions will be made what is best for the team.

DJ5 will have to play as good or better than 2020, which was great! He can do it again!
If not Cade can deliver as a freshman DW4 and Trevor did in the past.
Cade’s experience in Texas 6A was like junior college, he’ll be ready to play.

With a strong QB room, Dabo will be playing the best player for Clemson to win each game!

Go Tigers, Wreck Tech!

Depth allows coaches to start Cade early & risk DJ bolting

Feb 17, 2022, 8:41 PM

The relative ease of the early-season schedule (GT, Furman, LT) also would allow the coaches to start Klubnik early with less risk of losing. However, if (big if) Klubnik were to win the starting job (especially before game 4 burns a year of DJ's eligibility), then I think there's a very high chance of DJ hitting the portal. With some depth at QB, the coaches could better afford to take the risk of starting a relatively-frail (6-2, 185lb Klubnik) and risk DJ bolting.

I hope DJ bounces back to his 2020 form thereby giving Klubnik a chance to master the offense and put on some muscle weight in order to withstand college-sized hits.

Ideally Hunter Johnson wins QB1, wins a natty & gets drafted #1. Then next year, DJ leads us to a natty and gets drafted #1. Then the following 2 years Klubnik leads us to 2 natties and get drafted #1. That's not too much to hope for, is it? :)

Dream BIG!! ??

My guess is that Klubnik will be close to 200 lbs (adding 15 lbs of muscle - only 3 lbs/month) by the beginning of August and will give DJ a run for the starting spot.

Go Tigers!!

There is no substitute for experience so DJ will have to work to lose the job before the season but he ahs to take care of the ball which even in 2020 he gave up TD's to both BC and ND by bouncing the ball off of ETN"s chest. I think one may not have technically been a fumble-6 but it was effectively such.
You could argue we lost at least 2 of our 3 games lost last year due to ball security (or lack thereof) although we could still be playing now and probably still would not have another score on UGA. The long INT's don't bother me but you can't just pitch the ball to the other team and expect to win.
I just hope the game will have slowed for him and he can make his reads this year and learn to throw easier to catch balls when you don't need to throw a 5 yard pass 90 miles an hour.

Experience is most valuable when you keep building on your skills, not sliding back.

I’ve seen people with 10 years of progressive experience and I’ve seen 1 year of experience 10 times over. Let’s see where DJ is in August.

Hunter Johnson may play a bigger role in the competition that we think. Joe Burrows went from nothing to Heisman in one year, and Johnson has all the tools, but has been a disappointment thus far. With 3 legitimate potential starters, the competition should be great. I hope DJ returns to the form he showed his freshman year, but I expect Klubnik to take the lead by mid-season.

I agree about Hunter Johnson. He may be more of a factor this year than most think.

The big question is:

Feb 18, 2022, 9:36 AM

Can The new guy learn the playbook well enough to lead the Tigers? He will have six months to learn the plays and deliver on the field. I don’t think it will be an easy thing for him to do. With the first three games he perhaps can have success with a small playbook. I’m concerned with the QB position. DJ is still a big question Mark. As some have suggested, the “portal guy”may be a quick fix until the others elevate their game.

If you cannot learn the play book in from Jan-Aug (9 months) you never will. The Clemson offense is not very complex. Very overrated as to complexity.

Hunter Johnson should learn it pretty fast since he was Tiger before. Will be first Clemson football players to play for Clemson twice.

I feel Cade will be starter early. Hunter Johnson will be his most competition in off season. Dabo doesn't make many mistakes but starting Bryant over Hunter Johnson was big one. His second was in semis with Alabama they were stopping Bryant in his tracks should have put in Hunter for the win. Alabama did to UGA what Clemson should have done them. Switch to back up QB when UGA contained first string. If Dutch Fork healing back to 100% them solid 3rd string.
