I only read the last paragraph and it is the key. It doesn't matter how much talent or potential we have if they are in surgery or rehab.

“Don’t install and rep plays that you never call in a game ...” Yep!

But he states '....we never call in games.' I was hoping we were going to remove the play that was called a lot; with minimal production.

It would work if it was used every few quarters instead of every series. It's not that nobody runs the option.... it's that nobody runs only the option anymore.

Agree 100%, if a play isn't going to be used in the better part of the WR/TE arsenal on game day, don't bother with practicing it during the week of the game on Saturday. Doing so is just wasting the limited time they have for practice, practicing what they will use. I mean, if the WRs/TEs only have 3 or 4 plays they are good at, practice them enough during the week, and make the opposing defense stop what you're doing, and it is just that simple!!!
By what Richardson is saying, to me it's sounding like they thought that Tony was using a lot of practice time with BS plays that they just wasn't good at, or they took to much time to develop after the snap....

To me, that's an honest assessment. No BS, pretty straight forward.

I'm very impressed with what I've read about coach Richardson so far. Sounds like he may make a real difference in our offense this year. Even without the results I thought our offense had gotten a little stale and predictable the last couple of years.

Agree. And he's very reserved when it comes to looking at this fall. With our OL issues and small number of RB, our D may have to carry us again.

It’s NOT just stay healthy and execute; more to our offensive woes…

“small” number.
Unless we enjoy seeing guys hit the portal.
We’re absolutely loaded at RB.
A 4th or 5th talented and highly recruited guy is not going to sit around just in case injuries happen. He’s leaving for greener pastures.

that we recognize the need to use the areas of the field left open by the defense on a given play, because it means that we should see more action to the slot receiver and TEs instead of just throwing the long ball - a glaring problem last year. But I hope we recognize that for this to be successful, a few other things have to also be in place:
* We'll need receivers to run good routes with quick breaks and speed to gain separation.
* We'll need an OL that can give the receivers long enough to work open and the QB time to evaluate play development and opportunity.
* We'll need a QB who actually runs through his progressions instead of locking onto the first option.
* We'll need a QB who can throw short routes with touch.
* We'll need receivers who can catch the ball.
Based on last year's performance, that's a tall order...... hopefully we can check off the entire list. If we do, given our D potential, we'll have another championship team!

Well, it definitely can not get much worse than last year. Most times I believe we would have been better off running wildcat or triple option and using the passing game as a weird surprise attack.

Shotgun toss sweep… ban it. Burn the page it’s printed on. Zap it out of existence. Already lined up behind the LOS in shotgun. Then gonna toss it backwards? Gotta get 4 yards just to get back to the LOS… chunk it.
